Favre has ruined his legacy.  However, if you read "The Dark Side of the NFL" by former Falcons TE Tim Green he discusses the excruciating pain it is for an NFL player to retire.  He calls it "the second death".

That being said, I wish Favre would just bow out gracefully like John Elway did.

Bret Favre = petulant schoolgirl.  I had no reason to think ill of him, I don't give a flying fuck about the Packers, but he is just a gold plated cuntideluvian asshole with this stunt.  Hey Mary, men make decisions.  Not all of them result in interceptions that end your career.  Get over it fuckwad.

Zap, I agree that he's being/been a prima donna about this, but in all other aspects of his career and character, for almost 20 years, he's been legit as they've ever come. I don't blame the packers for their stance, I'm just kinda happy see it get ugly.

Good drama  :goodmorning:

the greg jennings interview was kinda interesting, mainly the part where he says he's part of the packers organization and can't really say anything while -->

but come on the guy has given it all to the game and fans for so long, and you know there were times he wanted to hang it up but kept going for the fans and game not for himself.  he deserves to be selfish if he wants to play nobody should stop him, and id be pissed if anyone tried and so would anyone else.  He's just doing the only thing he can.  until the news hit,  did anyone think the packers would denie farve the starting position if he wanted to come back?  they should have had open arms, instead they are telling a man who has a record for the most games started in history, to keep the gaterade tanks full instead.

The Packers still have Favre under contract, and they certainly don't want him playing in the NFC, let alone the NFC North, if he's not going to be a Packer, so their actions in regards to the Vikings are justified.

Favre has put the Packers in a really shitty situation.  I've been saying it ever since he took a dive to give Strahan the sack record, and I mean it twice as much now:  Fuck Brett Favre!

F Brett Farve? I find it funny that people who haven't even whiffed professional competition are so willing to curse first ballot hall of famers. Give me a break.

How do you know what I've whiffed?

Regardless, Brett Favre lay down like a little girl to give Micheal Strahan that sack record.  I always liked Favre up to that point.  After that I disliked him.  Now, with the position he's putting the Packers in, I say fuck him.

well ive been watching the last couple years, and brett farve has taken some SERIOUS shots that could have put him in some scary places.  So i dunno he does make some bad calls at times, but the guy plays games with alot of injurys and never says much if anything about them.  So i dunno if you wanna just throw away all the memorys because he wanted one...Just ONE hug from Micheal Strahan that would be a shame

I can't remember the exact play your speaking of, but i do remember a few games where the packer line wasn't doing crap and he kept getting sacked over and over, he could have just been tired?  Everytime rogers plays he breaks so thats prob worse as that leaves no qb for the next down

No.  It was quite clear to anyone watching that Favre served that record to him on a silver fucking platter.  It was the last minute or so of the last game of the 2001 season, which the Packers had well in hand.  Strahan was half a sack away from tying, and one sack away from breaking, the single-season sack record.
Before the sack that enabled Strahan to set the record, Favre spoke briefly with him. On the next play, Favre dropped back as if to pass, then suddenly scrambled towards the side that Strahan was rushing from, abruptly diving onto the ground, allowing Strahan to fall on top of him for an easy sack. After the play, during the ensuing celebration, many of the Giants' defensive players patted Favre on the helmet.
So, in conclusion, fuck Micheal Strahan, fuck Brett Favre, and all hail Mark Gastineau, the true sack king.

As a general rule, and knowing a couple of people who are professionals at what they do, and having this discussion with them, you understand that these organizations treat people like meat, like garbage, UNLESS you can help them win a.k.a. MAKE THEM MONEY. As soon as you can't do that, you're done. And that's fine, it's a business. Well, Brett wants to play. The Packers are making a smart business move, but to say F Him for wanting to play, when he's one of the best to ever play football, is silly.

Sorry for assuming what you've whiffed

Eh, no apology necessary.  what I whiffed was technically professional sports, but not near the level of the NFL, or the PBA for that matter.  Ever hear of the MLL (Major League Lacrosse)? I didn't think so.  It was/is a two hundred dollars a weekend sort of deal, and I would have had to commute cross country most weekends to play, so I said fuck it.

But this is about Brett Favre, not me.  As I said, had he not robbed Mark Gastineau of the sack record that he earned, I would be less likely to be saying "fuck him" now, but he did.  So, fuck that waffling son of a bitch right in his ass for fucking with the Packers and their fans like this.  How dare he?!

I have often made a decision that I later found to be the wrong one and wished I could take it back.

I don't have perfect judgment, and I don't fault a professional athlete for exhibiting the same human frailty.

I'm a rabid Bears fan and have been raised to hate the Packers, but I can't hate Brett Favre.  If he has decided that he actually still wants to play, as have many professional athletes after initially announcing their retirement, he should feel free to pursue those desires.

If the Packers don't want to give him the chance, then cut him.

No, they should use him in any way they see fit, which is the terms of his contract.  I think they want to make sure they trade him to a team out of their division as opposed to letting the waffling douche do whatever he wants.

Yeah, so do I. It's weird that most people only see one side of it (whichever side that is) , but GB CAN get some value from dealing him to someone. They need to let him play if he wants. If I'm him, and they don't deal me, it would get REAL ugly.

He may be a waffler, but he always played with his guts hanging out, is a standup guy and citizen by all accounts,.
