Debate Technique

First off, it should be mandatory for everyone to read the stickied thread 'The Fallacies of Philosophical Debate'.
Secondly it is important to understand that there is a method and technique to proper debate.
What is not debate:
1. Negating another's post with no reason or backing.
2. Making stuff up and declaring it as fact.
3. Making stuff up and declaring it as a possibility when it has no more substance than any other of an infinite number of possibilities.
4. Being inconsistent.
5. Speaking in riddles or using murky language.
6. Changing commonly accepted definitions of words to suit your purpose.
Try to learn the basics before tossing stuff out.

The concept of the philosophical "debate" is a fallacy. Anything can be proved or disproved with debate or statistics. It is just delusion. Pure bullshit. Anyway, why should someone play by your definition of the rules?
-------------------- Maybe there is no Heaven. Maybe this is all pure gibberish — a product of the demented imagination of a lazy drunken hillbilly with a heart full of hate who has found a way to live out where the real winds blow — to sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey, and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind except falling in love and not getting arrested...

You mean like changing the word soul to mean a functioning brain?

As long as he's not the Mother I think every thing's quite fine.

And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Wrong thread. And erroneously commingling.
But if you insist, in previous threads there was no consensus (guess you missed that word) on what a soul is, so I took the most common definition thrown about here. That is not changing.

I take it you are attempting to show others the Fallacy of the Non Sequitur.

Soul (definition 1): The animating and vital principle in humans, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion and often conceived as an immaterial entity.

Conceived: To be of the opinion that; think.
Just because someone thinks that an immaterial entity is responsible for thought, action & emotion does not mean that said immaterial entity IS responsible.
Is rain the result of God crying? When a harvest fails, is it punishment by the Great Poobah for our failure to sacrifice virgins? Do babies really come from the cabbage patch?
If the SOUL is that which manages thought, action & emotion, how would you differentiate between that and a functioning brain?

Personally, I don't.
I've just don't generally hear people who are genuinely concerned with the existence of a soul believing that the soul dies with the body. Ergo using the brain-function model is a total cop-out.
I've already said that I subscribe to his reasoning personally, it just seems like it ignores the real question that was being asked.
