Oh, I've got it now. You're talking about stachyose:
http://www.answers.com/topic/stachyose?cat=health
It's not a protein, it's a sugar. You can remove most of this sugar by soaking the beans overnight & discarding the water. What's left may cause some gas, but it does not damage the digestive system nor cause allergic reactions.
I think you are VERY incorrect about fiber. It is essential to human health, including yours.
http://health.howstuffworks.com/natural-weight-loss-food-dry-beans-and-pees-ga.htm
I think that you misunderstood me about food allergies & antibodies. The fact that our immune system "recognizes" these foods as hostile invaders is what creates the negative allergic reaction. It is not a matter of having the antibodies & being able to eat allergenic foods without a problem.

From your link #1:
Quote:
She adds that even if fiber does not have a major impact on colorectal cancer, there is convincing evidence that dietary fiber helps prevent heart disease, type 2 diabetes, the colon disease diverticulitis, and other several chronic conditions.
Link #2
Quote:
Observational studies on cardiovascular disease support Lupton’s claim. The massive Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-up Study, among others, found that adults who consumed the most total fiber, near the recommended 25 grams per day for women and 38 grams for men (double what typical Americans consume) are much less likely to suffer heart problems. “Collectively, it’s about a 30 percent risk reduction in heart disease,” Lupton says.
Sounds good to me.

I think fiber shows that correlation because it means that the eater in question is avoiding refined carbs, at least somewhat. The nutrients, and lack of the bad ones are what does it. Not the fiber.
For clearing the intestines, I think fat is just as good if not better. I used to eat many plates of lettuce, spinach, and steamed brocolli a day and that plugged me up more than it made me go.
Ever since I switched my diet macros to 71-3-26 (fat, carb, protein) or around that I've been going really well. And I'm a life long sufferer of "lame digestive system" syndrome.

Well, you are an anomaly then. For most primates, fiber promotes regularity & lessens their risk of several diseases. Are you just visiting this planet?
Insoluble fiber keeps the digestive tract clean, and soluble fiber lowers bad cholesterol, so I would say that these effects are actually attributable to the fiber itself, and not just the fact that someone eating fiber is not eating refined carbs. You can get the same effects from fiber supplementation.

I don't know about that. What about all the meat eating peoples who went well for centuries with little to no fiber? They didn't die of any of the diseases that ails us today (and fiber claims to cure). They died of other stuff, like having a really dangerous life.

Which peoples, and how long did they live, on average? If they regularly died prior to age 40, then they were not living long enough to experience the effects of their diet. If you plan to keel over by age 40, you can eat whatever you like until then.

Massai's, innuits, various islanders, aborigonies, the swiss (I think they didn't have much fiber, not sure), and probably other various sub-saharan Africans.

Besides, we don't have much evidence backing up vegan diets. They have only truly been around a few years thanks to B12 tabs.

Masai: average life expectancy @ 50 years, partially due to high infant mortality rates, but even at age 15 the life expectancy is only 60 years.
Aboriginies: You are incorrect about their traditional diet. Aborignal Diet
Various Islanders: You'll have to be more specific.
Swiss: Did eat lots of fat, but also included very fibrous grains, greens & veggies.
Sub-saharan Africans: Back to the Masai again?

I don't know man, but we've been debating all day. I want to go watch a movie now.
Remember, the diseases that fiber prevents are of no concern to me. My diet completely fights syndrome X. And I know it too, because I was on the road to diabetes even on a low GI carb diet. But all my symptoms are clearing up now.
As for my cholesterol I need to get that checked again, but my heart rate has been slowly going down. Cholesterol and h/r takes awhile. My first check up was only three weeks into my new diet. BTW my blood pressure is 100/60.
