After some searching through the posts, I was not able to determine whether pectin has been used successfully in producing agar substitute. Does anyone know if it has been accomplished and if so, where I can find some information on it.

Thanks guys. I thought that there had to be a reason for it not being used. I just never found anything when looking through the old conclusions to the experiments in the archives.

after whipping up some san pedro the other night, I wondered about someone extracting the gelling material from that. I guess it would be about like sea weed extract.
all i know is that stuff quadruples in size when you put it in a food processor or blender.
anyway, it got me thinking and I wanted to share my thoughts. could you imagine a growing medium that has mescaline combined with cubes. What would the results of that be? bitter, green, super strong tripping mushies. anyway, have fun with it. its just an idea.
