Cathedral City police arrest couple whose meth was stolen at gunpoint Friday
Responding to a suspicious-looking vehicle, officers stopped a gray vehicle driven by Victor Marquez, 26, of Desert Hot Springs and discovered controlled substances in plain sight.
A vehicle search found one pound methamphetamine with a street value of at about $16,000, several thousand dollars in cash, a ski mask and two handguns, one of which was reported stolen, according to police reports.
Police arrested Marquez and his two passengers, Esmelin Briceno, 19, of Palm Springs and Daniel Mondragon, 26, of Desert Hot Springs, for the methamphetamine, concealed weapons and possession of stolen property.
The investigation later found the three suspects had robbed Juan Sotelo, 31, and Dolores Archuleta, 32, at gunpoint taking their methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, cash and other items in the 31-400 block of Avenida Maravilla.
The three children at the residence were placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
Sotelo and Archuleta were arrested on methamphetamine sales charges and transported and taken into custody.

Wow, so them getting robbed at gunpoint wasn't punishment enough? No, instead, they jail the victims of a violent crime. What a fucking shame.
