My hip-hop contribution...

Rawkus Presents Soundbombing, Vol. 2
Without a doubt (imo), the greatest hip-hop compilation of all time.
Featuring MC's such as Common, Mos Def, Sadat X, Pharoahe Monch, El-P, Diamond D, and many others. Mixed by DJ's Babu and J-Rocc of the legendary Beat Junkies. This record takes me back to high-school, doing headspins and windmills in the hallways and to me the vibe on Soundbombing 2 is what independent hip-hop is all about; fresh beats, fresh rhymes, and no gimmicks. word.
Peace!

American Analog Set [1999] The Golden Band
Very mellow beautiful living room rock. Ambiant comes to mind, especially the new drifters set.

Just one song for now...a 20 minute live Built To Spill cover of Neil Young's 'Cortez The Killer'. doug martsch tearing his guitar apart for 20 minutes = something very orgasmic like.

That version of Cortez is goddamn great. I'm gonna grab those Built to Spill albums, and hopefully they compare.
Also want to say cheers to TrippinTeddy and the rest of the crew for this thread. I've always written Indie music off for whatever reason, and now I'm really liking alot of it.
