Man, I forgot like two staples of noise/ambient/drone nowadays

Fuck, buy me an album or whatever and I swear I'll find someway to pay you

Having no car and being surrounded by kids who listen to Hot Topicore really sucks sometimes

I consider myself to be a very open-minded person when it comes to music. I can ordinarily find something to like about everything. And if it's challenging, I'll listen to it until I understand what the artist was going for, and the majority of the time I will end up liking it more. The more challenging artists tend to be the ones that don't easily wear out.

That said, I do not understand how anyone can listen to this stuff. I've really tried. I've listened to plenty of Fantomas, Sunn O)), Nurse With Wound.... I don't get the point. I can't hear the art. It just sounds to me like random crap. Like I could turn my amp way up, plug in my guitar, and record the feedback for an hour, separate it into 5 tracks, and people would buy it.
That's just my opinion. I really wish I understood the fascination.

The weird part is I completely agree with you, but I dunno, I find this music endearing as well as pleasant mood/working sound

i see where you're coming from. i'm the same way with many bands. i used to hate fugazi, i could not listen to them at first. now i love them, so i feel ya. some things come in good time.

however, sunn is certainly not for your average listener. in fact, i can completely understand why most people would not get it at all. most people probally classify it the same way that i do merzbow, an artist i can simply not tolerate to listen to for more than 3 minutes.

but i suppose sunn is great to me because it's just that - some dudes droing out notes for extremely long periods of time on their guitars. nothing extremely spectacular to it.

however, i use this music the same as i do for ambient. i toss it on, get comfy in my bed and let the notes drone and put me into hypnosis. it's meditational music. something you dont have to worry about beats interfering with, no melodies or notes going everywhere, nothing that will distract you or have the need to capture your attention. no singing. just pure, unadulterated metal guitars playing slow notes and filling the air with something and nothing else.

some people like those lil wave machines or the boxes that make those bird sounds or whatever, they need that ambience to hear. me, i like sunn. it's the same concept for me essentially.

also, anyone who drives around in their cars listening to sunn has problems.

also also, anyone who drives around listening to jesu should have their license revoked for reckless endangerment.

The thing I enjoy most about ambience is that it essentially means ANYONE can bust out a record

Even me

It's fun driving around listening to Sunn O))). The whole car vibrates.
It doesn't matter if you're open minded or not, it all comes down to preference. Some people like this kind of music, some don't.

Really good ambient is harder than you think to produce.

How about some uploads folks?

I can't find Lightning Bolt...

Breed the Circus

My band/project is put into the noise genre often. i have done shows with other noise artist..the fans seem to enjoy my peaceful, beautiful noise, we play, opposed to the average drone, dark noise.
