I bet no one liked you in the pub, and then in OTD so now you have to pretend like you're too cool for school

That's exactly it.

yep. man. you guys sure are insightful. wow, i'm simply astounded at your amazing powers of perception. gee golly.

look, the point of the thread was not to garner pity. i was simply making an observation about my own experience here at the shroomery and i was curious if i was alone, or if anyone else has felt something similar. the bit about using a spell-checker was just friendly criticism phrased in a not so friendly manner, due to my pissy disposition at the time.

A) I didn't read the thread
(only the first initial post)

and

B) this is what everyone sez after a minute here...EVERYONE

- the quality hasn't gone down
- and things aren't getting worse

you're just now realizing that you initially built this place up to be entirely too much then what it truely IS (for the most part)

and that's an easy thing to do in this community  :shake:

the fact of the matter is that this site HAS so non-existent competition, that you presume it's entirely WAY better then any other site out there (because it IS way better then any other site out there) but then you build it up in yer mind to be everything that the proverbial 'perfect' mushroom site *should be* that you create yer own damn disappointments when it doesn't live up to yer own god damn standards of things

get off yer high horse already  :nonono:

this site is perfect just the way it is  :craven:

muppet, if you HAD read the initial post, you'd see i WAS NOT claiming the shroomery had changed or that the quality had gone down.

quoting myself in the first post:
Quote:

i'm not bitching about how the shroomery has changed. nor am i reminiscing about the glory days

not only that, but your entire response was completely irrelevant. i never built it up to be the "proverbial 'perfect' mushroom site". i simply have grown weary of the repetition. and the only high horse i could be considered to be on is one in regards to taking the effort to spell correctly.

no offense mate, but you could not have been any further off the mark.

yeah...well...'no offense mate' but I have certainly seen my fare share of people who say EXACTLY that
(everything is repetitious / nothing ever changes around here / you all are just simply 'following the trends')

and excuse me for being a whiney ass cunt about things, but it's tiring to see people complain so vehemently about something so asintotic about something so fucken piddly as 'nothing ever changes'

cause I hate to admit it bro - but that's just how this world works

ever here that ald saying:
"the more things change...the more they stay the same"?

well guess what?
that's EXACTLY what's going on here

the shit you're complainiong about ALWAYS fucken happens
(and it has been happening since day first in this mess)

you can't get away from it

so yeah:

that's why I'm implying yer being all pompous an arrogant with this one - because that's exactly how you're comming across

it doesn't matter what yer intention's were

all that's important is how people precieve you  :nonono:

Original Poster: I only read your post.

As somebody who's been here, off and on, for about 7 years now I can only suggest to leave and come back and touch base with the people you like. the revolving door helps most of the idiots out, and the ones that stay around grow on you.

If you don't like this place anymore, go.  Don't post about wanting to go, about the magic being gone, just fuck off.

And don't criticize people's spelling when you can't be bothered with capital letters.

Try 4chan, its much better than OTD and the pub, and it has an anime board.

Original poster: No offense to you or anything but considering you were too afraid of ridicule to post this out in the open it's understandable why you have troubles in the social forums here.

The internet in general gets completely redundant to me sometimes. I stopped posting on the shroomery for almost 2 years about a year ago. I'm not around enough to get to know anyone here personally so I don't feel all that connected and to be honest I'm not a big enough loser to hang out here enough to make internet friends.

internet forums really can't be considered legitimate social communities, they are not equivalent in anyway. Anyone who claims otherwise has a severely restricted perspective, and likely suffers from a yet to be named personality disorder (stay tuned to the next few editions of the DSM-_)

Additionally, a person's behavior within such a forum, regardless of where it lands on the spectrum of cyber-social acceptability, shouldn't necessarily be considered a reflection of how they engage within actual communities.

One other point, someone made the argument that "everything old is new again". While this axiom is certainly useful, it can be dangerous refuge when their actually is shift within some dynamic. I'm not saying I disagree with you in terms of how this statement reflects on the shroomery. I'm simply saying the shroomery, as an entity, does not have some magical immunity to the more stupefying elements within our culture.
