 Dried my mushies and there black inside, moist and smell are they bad?

thursday night i went ahead and picked to casing trays clear of shrooms to get ready to dunk for the next flush... well, after i picked them i placed them in a food dehydrator for a few hours then turned it off ... well, i got home last night and turned the dehydrator back on left if for a few hours then turned it off and check on them... well, most of my shrooms have turned out short and fat. so i went ahead grabbed one and split it open to find the inside black, kimda slimy/moist, and it smells strong mushroomy smell... i am not sure if there okay to eat? anyone know? pretty much all the shrooms i dried are like this... i am not sure if i left them in the casing to long? or maybe cause i left them in the dehydrator all day friday that they went bad and when i dried them more made it worse??? thanks for the help

i just noticed... that the outside of some of the shrooms were a little bluish or black on the outside and when you split the shroom to see inside it is also black or dark blue.. but not the whole inside.. just part.. the rest is white..

I'm worried about the exact same thing and its weird too cuz I was just about to ask I mean i still ate a few when they were like that and It was stil just as good IMO but i dont know if they are healthy to eat. I just hope next time I can have a dehydrator handy but from what i saw they were kinda pricey so i'm sticking to the damp-rid.

I'm trying sticking mine in the oven, this is what i did. I preheated it to 200 degrees then shut it off put the mushies on some tin foil and set them on the rack with the oven off, and just let them sit for like twenty minutes or so until they are somewhat dry not totally dry, and then put them in a tupperware with some damp rid.

Be very carefull on how you dry them in the oven, i tried drying them infront of the warm draft, for a few hours each day and ended up with shrooms that were not that potent at all.
If u got a fine, put them on a wire rack and fan dry them till there pretty dry then into a tub with some descecent should get them pretty caracker dry.
200 degrees seems very hot, when i oven dried the warm air would sometimes reach 100F. And i ended up with not very potent shrooms at all.

They will look rotten...
I fan dry mine for twelve hours, then throw them into a tub with desiccant. Cracker dry in 24 hours.

i mean the inside of the shroom is black and white.. and there is a strong mushroom smell .. it smells bad to me... should i fan dry them instead of the dehydrator??

okay.. after further examinationb... there are a few that when split open are very black and when smelled, smells funky... this black is beyong blue.. i just split open a couple others and there blue but the few that smell terrible are still kinda slimy in the inside .. i think i will disgard the smelly ones and total black ones ...

I've never used a food dehydrator, but best way to dry your shrooms is to put them on a rack in front of a fan for a day or so... and then in a desiccant chamber. There are diagrams online, they're very easy to build actually (e.g. a tupperware with desiccant inside and a raised screen on top).
There's an easy test to see if your shrooms are properly dried. Try bend them. If they bend, they're not completely dry. If they snap, that's what you're looking for.
If you say they're moist, so then no they're not dry  And they shouldn't smell bad either. If in doubt, throw them away. From what you described it sounds like they started to rot, and you dont want to trip on rotting shrooms, or eat rotting anything generally.
When you dry, make sure the shrooms aren't touching each other and that all surfaces are exposed. That's probably where you went wrong. Also definitely don't dry in an oven; psylocybin degrades at relatively low temperates... you're guaranteed to be reducing their potency this way.

A wire-topped box with a layer of desiccant in the bottom is the best way to go. Put the mushies on top the the wire and enclose the whole deal in a ziplock bag.

you need to leave the dehydrator on, until your shrooms are completely dried out.

okay so i now know the problem...are the shrooms good to eat or not ? not all of them are black inside some are and look badly bruised on the outside and have a deep deep mushroom smell kinda makes you think what is that smell... but i noticed the ones i picked this morning and placed on a tray and placed in the dehydrator look the same...i just checked them and split a couple open and on the oustide where it looks dark or blue or bruised it is the same on the inside.... but not as black or smelly as the other mushies i picked thursday night...maybe i will just eat the ones from this morning then

well, update here... i just checked them and there now almost completely dry .. they no longer look black inside a couple do but i will toss them... the smell has gone down tremendously... i think i may trip tonight... i will check each mushroom for that real dark slimy looking black but now if i find a shroom with the black in it. it is more like dust or turns to powder... i guess i will just check each one first.. now these shrooms did not get full blown i think something geneticaly is wrong there like dwarf shrooms.. the caps are barely as big as the mushroom body... so with them being so small should i take the normal dosage as well? it has been 1-2 years since i have tripped

i think i will try a level 2 trip thats about 1.734 grams maybe i will make it 2.0 just for shits and giggles.. i just bought cod4 for ps3 this should be fun. lol

well, incase anyone cares... they work .. and work very very well.. i am so trippin ballz right now its not funny ... not seeing visuals as much but i feel like i am the whole room right now... my throat feels like its getting narrower.. windows media is playing music and the visuals are goin on behind me while typing kinda weird... waiting for the microwave to stop so i can get my bud out.. lol.. while in the hell is my bud in the microwave.. lol. oh yeah drying it .. kinda wet.. anyways.. i took 2 grams with some food at like 8 and now its almost 9 and i am feeling it like no tommorrow.. woo hoo.. thanks guyys im going to go and try this call of duty 4 out on the ps3 thats gonna be tits

you leave them in the food dehydrator for at least 24 hours. The ones that were not dried all the way are okay to eat.
Sometimes even if the outside of the mushrooms feels cracker dry the insides will still be a little wet. This is why you run the dehydrator for longer then needed
