 3 kids found in FW home where 583 pounds of marijuana was seized

Deputies found three young children in a home where they seized almost 600 pounds of marijuana and a large amount of cash.
Child Protective Services was called in to investigate the presence of the children and a man was arrested in the case.
Deputies also seized $50,000 in cash in the raid on Wednesday.
The house where the drugs, cash and children were found is in the 5000 block of Resource Drive near the intersection of Interstates 35W and 20 in south Fort Worth.

I didn't know being in the same house as dried plant matter constituted a threat to a child's health. I guess you really do learn something new every day if you keep an open mind.

You know, I've often thought the same thing. For Christ's sake, if you've got more than a few grand of drug money, store it somewhere else. Why not just keep it in a safe at the house of one of your friends who's only a casual smoker (doesn't do any dealing), & just give him/her a little bud each month in exchange for the favor. That way you both have money for bail/lawyers/legal fees, plus you could even have some left over for when you finally get out. Just work the shit out beforehand so your friend will be able to get in contact with the lawyer if/when you're arrested so the lawyer can get the money where it needs to be (most likely in the lawyer's pocket  ).
I wish I had the problem of having to find a good place to store $50,000 in cash. If I did, though, it sure as hell wouldn't be at my house.

I know I wouldn't just leave that much money at a friend's house and expect it not to disappear

I am pretty sure having someone else is a felony for the person in possession of the money. I wouldn't want to get charged with conspiracy to distribute 550lb of marijuana.

The only way the holder of the money is going to be busted (that I can think of off the top of my head)... assuming your activities aren't blabbed around town, & if that's the case then you're almost certainly not gonna make to the amount of money where this would really be an issue... is if the grower/dealer narcs on them while in police custody.
