Sleep Paralysis: Experiences
    #7499962 - 10/08/07 10:24 PM (4 years, 7 months ago)

Last night I experienced sleep paralysis. Has anyone ever felt this before?? CREEPY.

Trying to fall back asleep in my bed after dozing off on the couch... I went into this weird state. While laying on my stomach, eyes wide open, I felt extremely paranoid that someone was in my house. I couldn't move at all. I remember trying really hard to reach for my handgun so I could go scope the house and then I went into a vivid ass dream where I actually got up and walked around my house FBI agent style.

Checking out wikipedia on the issue, it says sleep paralysis sometimes occurs after recent use of hallucinogenics. I assume you guys might be able to relate to my experience. ANYONE?

I have had those before. Once I thought I was trapped under something because I couldn't move at all, but my brain was fully awake. I couldn't even open my eyes. It turned out it was my blanket.

Sleep paralysis is freaky.

I had sleep paralysis experiences quite a lot, but I think they started only after I started to experiment with psychedelics and lucid dreaming... They are creepy... The most interesting was when actually I was pushed down to my bed by a demonic looking woman... She was not ugly, and was not beautiful, she was just scary... I told her to fuck off, and don't come back ever... I was so terrified. I read that in dreams we should ask the creatures what they want and who they are... She left, and never came back again. I don't know... She was really scary, but maybe I should have talked to her, or something...

Another note. When I experience sleep paralysis sometimes even before the presence of another being, I start to fear because I became lucid, I notice, that I am having this experience, and I start to fear of what will come, and force myself to wake up... I should calm down somehow myself, and explore this thing, it has some connections with astral projection and things like that... Interesting thing, but I always scared to continue...

Happened to me once. Pretty scary.

Doesn't help if you're claustrophobic either

was the demonic woman pushing on your chest?

if so, perhaps it was the "old hag" or "night hag" google those terms if interested

also similar to you during awakeness i become curious as to what i'm frightened of exactly so i tell myself "just relax next time it happens! it's not like it can actually harm me" but when it happens i always end up trying to wake myself up immediately

dammit i wanna see what happens if i dont freak out

She was above my chest, but not only my chest was paralyzed, but my whole body. I knew the connection between the Old hag and the sleep paralysis experience before. It was just interesting, that it was really some demonic female presence, which I felt. But it was not always... But always frightening...

Yeah, I too want to not freak out next time...

Sleep paralysis happens because the brain doesn't have as much oxygen as it needs.
It feels creepy because we're not used to that state and because we feel vulnerable.

Every night.. (No sleep paralysis = no dreams..)

Break it too soon, and sleep walk, etcetera..
Break it too early, and feel stuck, etcetera..

You should really avoid that wikipedia crap.. It puts faulty ideas in your head, as if they were facts..

Wikipedia is the worst thing to happen to the internet since that fat boy made "noma noma" .. :P

Fun, but not factual..

I've experienced sleep paralysis more times than I can count.

When I experience it now, it feels like an insane amount of pressure building up the back of my head/neck. I'm sometimes convinced I might be having a seizure in my sleep.

i find the most useful tool to get out of it is to wiggle your feet.
Once awake, get up and walk around for 3 minutes. Take a piss, drink some water maybe.
After that you should be good to go.

You'll be cool just from reading about it here though. If you ever experience it you'll be like "Uh......WTF WHY CAN'T I MOVE!?" then you'll be like "wait...I'm not completely awake..."
