MINDEN HILLS, Ont. -- Provincial police in Ontario's Haliburton region have scaled back n their search for several gun wielding suspects who took six people hostage over a large-scale marijuana grow operation.
Armed with handguns, the suspects dressed in camouflage terrorized the hostages for more than three hours late Friday afternoon.
Const. Mark McMaster tells Toronto TV channel CP24 that gunshots were fired in the incident and one man was assaulted while attempting to flee.
It prompted police to employ helicopter, canine and narcotics units in the search this weekend, but police say they have now somewhat reduced the number of resources being used in the search.
While no arrests are reported, police did seize more than 800 kilograms of cannabis.
They remind drivers in the area not to pick up hitchhikers or strangers. (CP24, Toronto Star)

800kg of cannabis guys... that's probably a million or more dollars wholesale.
Obviously a huge deal that went sour.
But why the fuck did the gun weilders leave behind 800kg of cannabis? Maybe they did get the cash, but then what's the point in holding them hostage? Maybe they got half the cash?
