 Deputies Seize Two Pounds of Marijuana(TN)

PUTNAM COUNTY -- Cars speeding through a neighborhood yesterday led to a drug investigation in which Putnam Sheriff's deputies seized two pounds of marijuana.
But no one was arrested. Instead, the case will be presented to the Putnam grand jury later, according to a report by Deputy Tony Branch.
It was just after 7 p.m. when a woman who lives on Huddleston Drive called the Sheriff's Dept. and complained about "numerous cars" speeding on that road, the report says. One car that day had run out of control and "slid in her driveway sideways," the complainant said.
That car then stopped at 298 Huddleston Drive, and that is where the deputy went to investigate the speeding, he said. But the car was gone by the time he got there.
He knocked on the door, planning to "advise the tenants to tell their friends they needed to slow down," the report says.
A man smoking "some type of cigarette" answered the door and immediately threw the cigarette away, the deputy said.
"I could smell a strong odor of marijuana, and I asked him where the rest of his marijuana was. He handed me a bag containing approximately half an ounce," the report says.
"I then asked him if there was any more, and he went into the kitchen and opened a drawer that contained several bags of marijuana packaged for resale."
The deputy said the drawer also contained a set of digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.
The man signed a consent form allowing the deputy to search the place.
"In the kitchen under the drawer he had showed me earlier, I found three ziplock bags containing large bricks of marijuana and another set of digital scales," the report says. "Approximately two pounds of marijuana was seized."
The report identifies the suspect in the case as Daniel Lynn Young, 49, but makes clear that Young "has not been charged yet due to health reasons."
"Charges will be filed at the grand jury," the report says

We always have bulk weed at my friends place, and we always try to avoid this situation... Anyone who speeds or "acts the fool" outside the house gets a serious warning, and a serious beating on the second offense...
You just have to be smarter than this...
