Which Mushrooms Grow in my State?
    #7303878 - 08/17/07 05:53 AM (16 years, 7 months ago)

I think that there should be more information on which mushrooms have been found in which states. If the mods think this is relevant, please sticky it. Everyone else, reply to this thread with mushrooms that have been found in your state and I will update the list.

It's so relevant, it's been done. Do a search.

if you're talking about actives, it has been done.

If you're talking about all mushrooms, you're attempting something that is an ongoing field of study, and is currently already being done. We'll never find 'em all... there's just not enough resources. Fungus are everywhere, in all kinds of different forms. So many new species are being found all the time, it's like trying to document snowflakes.

If you want to find psilocybin in species that are not yet known to be psychoactive, you should do chemical tests. That way you won't get sick and die all the time.

Jrsxt - Updating the page on "Which mushrooms grow wild in my area" is an ongoing project. I made some changes to it, and added the state of Virginia.

I've been bogged down lately with stuff, but it is a priority to work on.

Thanks for the concern, but I think with the links and the Search Posts function, new members should easily be able to find information regarding actives in their area.

Why don't you scan all posts and update the list using that information. That would actually be really useful.

Well, the entire globe apart from the Northern American continent and Australia?

My post was actually a bit cynical. I apologize.

The vegetation, habitat and climate of a region are more important than the geographical locations. Mushrooms will grow anywhere as long as what they need to grow is met in an area.
