i hear all the time how people are doing 1 hit, 2 hit, sometimes even 3... but do you think people even realize the actual dosage of that hit? who says that 1 hit can't be a huge dosage, and they're getting double trouble of what they expected...
aren't you taking a risk by taking 2 or 3 extra hits?
if it was me, i would test out 1 hit first. but countless times i see people blindly down these blotters like they're candy and that they're all small dosage, when in reality they have no idea what they're in store for...

well, if you know where it came from you can probably find out how many ug's aprox. each hit is. but i do agree, it would be to the trippers benefit to know what they're about to get themselves into (dosage wise)
the highest i've ever heard of blotter being laid at is 180u.g's, (alex grey, St. Albert print) which are floating around right now
i personally have never had blotter that was over 100ug's per hit
usually at least 1 and a half is needed to really start tripping
i favor large doses of psychedelics over small, but thats just a personal thing

I'll generally do a test-run with 1-2 hits now before going to a larger dose. Last time I blindly took 3 hits from a new batch, I was knocked on my ass in ways I never new possible. Was a /very/ enjoyable trip, but way more intense than I was expecting.

I think 2 hits is just a good start out.
Even if its really potent blotter, I doubt 2 hits would be tooooo intense, though I have close to 10 trips under my belt now...so I know how to handle stuff a bit better.
It would suck to just take 1 hit and get a body high or something with very slight visuals.

I think the safest way, i testing the stuff. I recommend start with 1 hit if you´re lucky you will have a nice trip, if you´re unlucky will have to repeat with double or triple dose.

Since it's impossible to know how powerful the blotter your getting is, always start out low. Never trust what your dealer says unless you know them well, because they can't really tell either in most cases. So remember rule one of tripping: know what you're getting into, and safety always comes first.

I too once took 3 hits of a DOx just assuming it would be LSD..

It's not exactly impossible. I dont know how it's like over there but here in Holland you can bring half a hit to a testing centre (their are several, spread over the cities) and they send it off to their lab. In about 4 weeks you'll have the results.
It's free and you won't get any problems for it. So if you have several laying around it would be a good idea to have em tested.

I have had interesting experiences gauging doses with vials. The bottom of the barrel doses seemed to be much stronger than doses from when the vial was full. I much prefer to deal with paper/windowpane.
