Ok, so I went to the mental health clinic because I wanted medication for depression. I talked to a therapist and was completely honest with her...told her how I had been using mushrooms heavily. She started talking to me like I was a full blown drug addict (just shot someone for their money to get my heroine fix) type of thing.
She said that she couldn't help me further until I went to rehab, I know how rehab works...and if you don't want the help, it won't do shit for you. Is a person really a drug addict because they use mushrooms? They grow out the ground naturally for fucks sake.
So for about a month now, I haven't done any type of drugs or alcohol...hell I haven't even smoked a cigarette and I'm a pretty heavy smoker. I want medication still because I feel my serotonin/dopamine levels are fucked up.

I've heard that yage works well in the long term for depression. Tried that yet?

Don't let yourself get bothered by one "professional" who obviously doesn't know shit.
You're not addicted and also I think that medication for depression doesn't help at all.
You're the only one who can really help yourself.
There is a real reason why you feel depressed and you need to find it out. You need to get to the bottom of it and see what's making you have these depressions.
Do you have any idea about what's causing you these feelings?

Yage (or any other psychedelic) is NOT going to take it all away.
It doesn't work like that.
I strongly believe and sustain psychedelic psychotherapy and it can have great results, but in certain conditions.
One has to be aware that one has a lot to work with oneself, face many fears, doubts twists of situation. If one is not fully engaged in the act of recuperating and getting honest with oneself, it's all a waste of time and energy.
Also psychotherapy plays a huge role in all that and can come in great help.

I definitely understand where you're coming from. Issues have a way of rehashing themselves and manifesting as emotional distress. Still, eating healthy, taking the right things in, and exercising is a roundabout way of doing it. Eventually, underlying issues will reveal themselves, though the way you've suggested is much more direct.

I'm not sure what causes these feelings, wish I did. I suspect MDMA might have thrown off serotonin levels...the highs are incredible, but the comedowns are horribly depressing (what's the point in living, etc.)

Try some St. John's wort and 5-HTP. You really don't want to get on anti-deppressents, they fuck your brain up bad. Damn pharm companies are just in it for the money. If that doesn't work then I would say exercise + pot. it works for me whenever I'm feeling down (and btw manic depprssion runs in my family).

I've used MDMA probably about 10 times. The last time I did it, I took 4 pills (not sure of the dosage), I was very gone...after I sobered up my friend showed me a picture of myself while I was peaking. It kind of shook me up because I looked...dead. It looked like my soul wasn't there, eyes looking in completely different directions.
I haven't done it since then, if I ever do...it'll be a once a year type of thing.

Ok, you didn't "abuse" it.
Taking 4 can make you really high, but you did it once... and per total you only took ten pills... your depression is not because of that.
When was the last time you did E?

Then your depression is definitely not from doing E.
As someone here said, 5-HTP is great, there's a product called Smart Oxygen which is also very good, eat lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, make some sport and get lots of sleep.
BUT you still need to figure out where you depression comes from and antidepressants never help, they only make things worse.
They're the alternative for people who prefer to let a chemical fool them that they're happy. I think you don't want to be in that situation.
Analyze your life, see what's wrong, what makes you unhappy about it, what make you unhappy and discontent about yourself and change it.
How exactly does your depression manifests for instance?
Are you depressed all the time, just once in a while, is there anything that seems to flame your depression, what thoughts go through you mind when you're feeling like that, any detail can help in solving your problem.
What you have is not something sever, is something that happens to everybody and one can use it as a life lesson, take advantage of it and get to know who you really are, that's what's really important.
