agar/lc underwater fruit...

Hey,
I saw some strange shit today... about two months ago or so I was making agar and lcs, and just for yucks I threw a little bit of agar-agar in with a 4% honey lc (and for even more yucks I inoculated it with some lc, just to see what would happen). The agar solidifed on the top, and then within a few days colonized the LC and had a nice white solid two inch layer of colonized agar floating on top...
I innoc'd some wbs with this and it all came out clean, and then left it in a drawer for about a month. the other day i took a look at it and it was cool, today I looked at it and it has a 3 inch mushroom growing from the middle of the agar slab downwards into the water and is 100% under the honey/water solution.
i'll try and take pics of this as soon as I get my camera working.
I was unaware mushrooms could grow entirely underwater? anybody have an explanation for this?
Oh, and by the way I'm going to dump this (and a few other lcs) in some prime locations at a stable I go to and try to inoculate a field.

my lens is broken. tomorrow i'm gonna take a picture with my phone and upload, it'llbe better than nothing. i really want to know why this happened though... I was under the impression mushrooms can't grow without oxygen (which there might have been some, but I'm sure it's been used) and water hurts pins.
fucking weird.

who knows you might have a freak of nature, you could grow a "sea" of shrooms ;-) too bad they would be like 98% water... so 100 wet grams would dry to 2 grams.

That supports the theory that pins will NOT abort if you spray them directly. Im glad. Ive been saying that for a while.

Yeah, i can understand that. My phone is literally in two pieces currently, it is the only working camera I have. i seriously have to use speaker phone and voice recognition to make phone calls until monday.
is this seriously that uncommon?

no actually it's not that uncommon, as that happened to me about three weeks ago. I just did the same thing with voice call and speaker phone until i got it fixed.

I got into a long debate with someone about "hydroponic" mushrooms. You may be able to find the post.
IMO, sounds pretty neat. Pics would be great, although I wouldn't consider whats going on "hydroponics" :]

That is about as close to what I have as anything I've seen. The agar is the same and everything, the only difference is that the mushroom is growing directly down into the water and is fully submersed.
