I was listening to old and in the way on the way home from work today Dylan and the Dead is good, I think they played that with The Band? I would pass on built to last.. and I dont recall the others.
Are you going to be playing this music or listening?

My personal favorite is Old and in the Way. Best tracks on there, I would say, are Hobo Song, Pig in a Pen, Midnight Moonlight and Panama Red. Great album.

Funny, I was listening to an Old and In the Way today too. I have a few of their albums/shows. Panama Red is one of my favorites.

Yea Old and In The Way was the first one I listened to, sounded awesome. and Yes i was thinking Built To Last was going to be the weakest of them all.
Receiving all this new shit was certainly a sweet pick me up. Thanks for the advice guys!

Another vote here for Old & In the Way. My buddy's dad had that on vinyl.... mmmmm....... it was sooooo fun listening to that record all high.
Get a copy of Garcia & Grisman: So What That's another my personal favorite non-GD Jerry works.

You should convince Ani here to come to the dang BBQ on Sunday so you two can gush over Jerry together She's being a punk and ditching us for a free concert in Central Park.

That's a wonderful gift. Does this assistant happen to have a crush on you?
When you're finished perusing that collection, I'd also recommend the Grateful Dead's live material on www.archive.org.
Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to see the Grateful Dead in person, but I've experienced the beauty of their music via the Internet. Here are a few of my favorite shows:
4/21/69-4/22/69 - excellent versions of Dark Star with that 1969 guitar sound I find so juicy. 1/2/70 - epic Dark Star through Love Light. Pig Pen gives it his all with a particularly emotional performance of Love Light. May 1977 - hard to single out any one show as the best of the era. 5/8/77 is widely traded. 5/7, 5/9, and 5/15 are excellent. 6/23/93 - for Robert Hunter's birthday they put on a rare 1990's five-star show (in my opinion) with an uncommon Terrapin Station jam and a perhaps five times performed Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
I recommend getting an account on one of the various BitTorrent sites if you're interested in bootleg video, mostly from the late 1980's to 1995.

thanks. yea i totally haven't seen the grateful dead either, way before my time. I actually didn't even start listenin to the grateful dead until like last year to be honest.
And no, the assistant doesn't have a crush on me. he's actually married with a beautiful child named Mazzy. he's kind of a family friend at this point. you see i work with my brother in law. Felix is his childhood friend.
And actually i really don't care for anything i've heard from the late 80's to early 90's. Every now and then i'll put on a grateful dead internet radio station and anytime some show from that time period just sounded so cheesy and lame. with the synths and shit. i don't dig that. But i'm sure the footage is interesting to watch. But torrents scare me
