I agree, and the points program has been discontinued.

for sure. it was a good idea, but once the point system was in place, too many people's focus was on how to get some.

I wouldn't get too down about it. It was a great idea and you busted your ass with the implementation and for that I'm grateful. Thanks for giving it a try and it's a shame that it couldn't work out, but that's not your fault.

maybe instead adding cool features that people abuse and don't appreciate, you can down to business with the growery.

it was a damn good, yet unappreciated idea. Thanks for the thought ythan.
on the bright side, at least i don't have to waste time trying to learn html and php so i can write that "the pool" script now.

Yeah, agreed. I just hope I can change my name back at some point. I was being patient with my 120+ character posts in the Psychedelic Experience working towards having 2000 again!

I hung in there as long as I could but obviously it wasn't serving its purpose. It was supposed to reward people and make them happy; instead it just made everyone greedy and pissed off. From an academic standpoint I find the results fascinating. It definitely gives some insight into human nature. But from a personal standpoint I'm angry I wasted so much time trying to be nice to a bunch of ungrateful little bitches. To everyone who brought about the demise of the points system, fuck you. I should have listened to the naysayers all along. Live and learn I guess.

true that, it would have made for an interesting college thesis on psychology or some related matter. It was cool while it lasted, but man will always exploit where possible, and the internet is a land of no morals.

people got greedy, and then people got upset at those being greedy.
i think in hindsight what could have worked was setting the system back to zero(take away the trades/lottery/etc that happened) after everyone got greedy.
then take away points for documents, make the points worth so little that you forget about them....but enough that when you been here for a few years that they are worth a "little" something.
shirts were nice but just to expensive for the shroomery i imagine, something smaller yet still physical and usable.
anyways i think it had potential, just had lots of angles to work out....2 much for mer mortals

I think all this bitching probably cemented the decision. Oh well, I thought it was cool but I knew there were a few flaws. Especially people copying and pasting google recipes for points, that was lame.

I applaud your efforts, Ythan. It was cool, but I don't think there's any way to have a points system without the kind of pettiness we've seen in the past few weeks. I was happier without the points system, but I didn't want to disparage it because I knew it must have taken a lot of work and obviously the intent was to make people happier, not whinier.
It is fascinating from an anthropoligical standpoint though

thanks for thinking about us Ythan
