Moving to Southern Oregon - any fellow hunters/locals with advice?
    #7192677 - 07/18/07 02:55 PM (5 years, 10 months ago)

I've been on the shroomery for many years.  My old ID was Grizzy, or Grizzycap, whatever.  Anyway, I've always spent my time focused on what's near me.

I've lived in the bay area of California for too long, though.  I've had it.  Too much traffic, too much stress.  I'm off for the hills.

Moving to So. Oregon.  Klamath Falls area.  Lots of woods, lots of shrooms I hear.  Plus - it's 100% LEGAL to pick them.  Wonderful.

Now, I imagine that ya'll may have cyans like they do here in the bay area, but I'm sure you got more and better fungi like lib caps and such.

Since I'm going to be the new guy on the block, I was hoping a local or two would take me under the wing and help me out.  You don't have to come out and meet me and take my by the hand(unless you like 4wheelin', I got trucks).  But I just need some guidance as far as what my best chances are(species), and WHEN(what time of year, what month) to go looking.

I'm going to be living on the Klamath River, in the country.  Got a dirt bike and willing to travel.

Say hello if you live nearby.  Perhaps you could could come by sometime if you'd like.  We're nice folks, wife is pregnant.  I drink cold beers and I BBQ all the time.  I like trucks and motorcycles.

While Psilocybian mushrooms are illegal. It is also, as in California, illegal to pick edible shrooms without a state permit and without a permit from the owners of the land, waerhauser loggings etc. Magic shrooms are rare in mid to eastern Oregon. Cmmon from about I-5 to the coast of Oregon.

The logging sites also require you to purchase a permit, usually good or about 1-3 locations in the state and along the national forests of the east coast of Oregon. And they limit you r amount of picking weight.

Also, outside of most logging sites along the Oregon Coast are panel trucks and pickups who offer to purchased at a few dollars a pound, your collected shrooms.

It is also very illegal to pick shrooms in public parks as it is in Golden Gate where edible shroom pickers get ticketed or arrested.

IT is even illegal to pick flowers in public places althouugh the laws usually look the other way.
Good luck in oregon.

In Astoria/Hammond, Cos actually hide out in bushes at the beaches where the P. azurescens are common and they constanltly check public parks in Astoria for shroom pickers.

Awesome info MJ. Thanks a million for that. Doing a 180 in my mind now with those thoughts.

Oregon should be the life I've been waiting for. I already have one good friend up there, and I'm sure I'll meet more nice folks soon.

Definately have to swing by the Oregon Fair when it comes around. I hear there's a lot of love up there.
