Dammit You dont get 400 Points for a trip report, In fact you get nothing. I guess Its not considered a document. I got -points from shipping my points off when I had some for the steaming piles I post in OTD and pub. And now Im in debt..I shipped more than they took away. What do you gotta do at the bus-station or a trucker rest-stop to get a point around here..Bitch bitch bitch

On the issue of trip reports, I agree that you should get points and I'm sure that bug will be worked out sooner or later. Trip reports are one of the main features of the web site. They are a very important aspect in "demystifying" magic mushrooms.
I don't even think this will be an issue. More than likely, everyone will agree that submitting a trip report should reward points.

no...all that will do is encourage the generation of 5013461346513461346513465 trip-reports saying "i ate these LBM i found growing from golden cow shit and saw all of these amazing things...then my soul was ripped out and i became gay.
automatic awarding of points for "information/documents" will only lead to the dilution of what is already a very comprehensive wealth of information. i believe there should be some sort of 'social review' pertaining to documents and only those that are marked useful by 'x' amount of unique members (ie:no anon rankings) should be rewarded with points. We don't need 5000 documents on how to properly pressure cook something.

Well damn, I kind of agree with you.
I have to say I'm a bit on the same page as well. There should be some sort of review system. Now on Erowid I believe they have some people who serve as trip report readers and pick and choose what goes on the site. Not sure about that completely, but pretty sure - anyway, there are some stinkers that get through even if that is a case.
It seems to me some sort of "peer review" system, if it could be developed, would be more akin to the Shroomery spirit.

There is a peer review system, check out the recent documents and if anything isn't up to snuff, improve it or move it to the trash.
And you *do* get points for trip reports, I don't know why anyone would think otherwise.

How do you feel about the other stuff talked about in this thread, like the organization of the trip reports? I don't know why but the whole Level system has always rubbed me the wrong way. I think in one sense because I think noobs reading it might immediately decide Level 1 = low dose, Level 5 = high dose when it's not always that simple or clearcut.

There are currently 5,818 trip reports, I'm not necessarily against the idea of categorizing them differently but it does seem like a lot of effort for something that isn't really 'broken'. Waaay back there were "bad trip" and "entity" flags for trip reports and nobody used them.
