these were found in wellington, new zealand. it has been raining quite consistently here (several times per day) and has been about 50 degrees F during day and 40 at night, or about 10 degrees C day and 4 at night.
habitat: found in an artificial (landscaped) habitat near sidewalks/footpaths. growing from manure and wood chip mix. some were found underneath small shrubs and some were unprotected, away from the shrubs.
gills: color ranges from tan to very dark gray from specimen to specimen (see pics). on some, gills are attached directly to the stem, and on some the gills recede towards the cap near the stem (this is also illustrated in contrasting pictures).
stem: hollow (see pic). not white. range in color from cream/tan to brown/cinnamon. color not necessarily uniform throughout each stem. at top of stem, vertical lines can be seen and it gets lighter in color just before it attaches to cap (see pics).
cap: not necessarily uniform in color throughout each cap. some are darker in center and near edges. caps range in color from from cream/tan to brown/cinnamon. this variability seems to be related to rain/moisture - darker after recent rain and they go lighter with no recent rain. some are slightly umbanate.
spore print: black
bruising: none, really. caps may bruise just to a darker color of itself.
smell: just plain mushroom
Grouping: not too dense, not too sparse. Fruits were on average 1-2 inches apart.
the print:

the haul (after they'd been in the freezer for a few mins):

other pics (before freezer):

showing relative size (though these were some of the smaller ones):

some with darker center on cap:

non uniform color on stem:

up the skirt (showing gill color variation):

shows vertical lines at top of stem and also some spores dropped onto the stem:

some gills connected straight to the stem, and lighter top of stem:

and some gills recede towards cap near the stem instead of directly attaching:

and lastly, the hollow stem:

CHUR CHUR!

I cannot precisely identify those, but I'm damn positive they aren't subs.
Some of them do bare a resemblance to subs, but I think your outta luck this time.
Sorry dude, keep trying.

Good pictures.
Your mushroom is a Psathyrella species, maybe this one:
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/psathyrella_candolleana.html
It is not edible, poisonous, or active.

For future reference, you should never put fresh mushrooms in the freezer as it will turn them to yucky mush.

I'll third that ID- Psathyrella.
GeorgeM, generally speaking, I agree- freezing turns mushrooms into a thawed out nasty sponge. However, I have had porcini frozen fresh and thrown frozen, directly onto the grill, and they are fantastic! Also, if you intend to make tea, then freezing may be appropriate.

yeah, freezing will difinately aid in rupturing the cells, better allowing the Psilocybian compounds to come into solution with the water. for tea this could actualy be ideal.

Along a path I walk this night, clear to no other eyes than mine.
In faerie circles perchance I might, hope Elven honey bread to find.
Over stream and tangled root I leap, o'er bough and slumbering badger's keep.
Under hoary oak and willow I bound, to find such groves as can be found,
the sating mushrooms; spring's delight, as gifts from figures of the night.

hey thanks! i thought some of the pics were a bit shit due to insufficient lighting but ive found a place in the house to photograph that has more light which produces much better images. i have taken some pics for my next id request that i think you guys will like! great macro photography...
about the freezing... yes, i realize it is not the best thing to do, but my house is ridiculously humid (no central heating, dehumidifier, or a/c) and even with a fan, my shrooms will not dry out. after a week they are still bendable. so i froze them in case they were active (it was dark at the time of picking and i was hoping for pan subbs)
