Drug dealer gets 40 years
    #7164104 - 07/11/07 11:51 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/pubs/states/newsrel/wdo071107.html

JUL 11 -- (Newport News, VA) - Frederick Lee Hudson, 26, a.k.a. Michael Deon Booze, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute crack and ecstasy and discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. Hudson had previously pled guilty on April 3, 2007. Chuck Rosenberg, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Edgar A. Domenech, Special Agent in Charge, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; Shawn A. Johnson, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington Division; J.D. “Danny” Diggs, Sheriff, York County Sheriff’s Office; Charles “Chuck” Jordan, Chief of Police, Hampton Police Department; and, James D. Fox, Chief of Police, Newport News Police Department, made the announcement after United States District Judge Robert G. Doumar sentenced Hudson today.

According to court documents, the charges stem from a drug organization that, since January 2005, imported approximately 20 kilograms of crack and significant quantities of ecstasy from California to Hampton Roads. The drugs were shipped through various carriers and by car to about 13 residences in Newport News and Hampton. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash were shipped back to California after distribution of the drugs locally.

In July 2005, Hudson shot at a UPS driver after he believed a crack shipment had been tampered with. In June 2006, when drug proceeds and crack were lost, Hudson participated in a shooting into a Newport News apartment. Bullets from that shooting struck a pregnant woman, however, both she and the baby survived. Again, in July 2006, bullets were fired into an apartment in Hampton in retaliation for the nonpayment of a drug debt. One bullet struck a young woman in the back during that shooting.

The year-long investigation was conducted through the joint efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the York County Sheriff's Office, and the Newport News and Hampton Police Departments.

The Hampton and Newport News Commonwealth Attorney’s Offices assisted in coordinating the prosecution of the case. Assistant United States Attorney Scott Putney prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.

Although I do agree that this guy sounds really stupid (I mean, shooting the UPS guy, c'mon), I certainly believe by no means does he deserve the chair. Who are you to judge, would you be willing to flip the switch?

obviously he wasn't hesitant to pull the trigger. why should we be hesitant to not flip the switch? If the baby and mother had died, he probably would have.

If the police know about 3 shootings that he was involved in, then I wonder how many people he shot at/killed that they don't know about.

I usually get pissed with big sentences for drug dealers, but this guy sounds like liability on the streets.

Well then you have proved my point.

Do you really always believe 2nd hand, 3rd hand, and so on info you hear.

Geeze, so quickly the public is to believe any type of information from any type of source. It makes me disappointed in our so called advanced modern culture.

But hey, if you would be that quick to flip the switch on some guy that you heard really bad STORIES about, then hell, lets just use the media to sway everyones decisions towards a guilty verdict instead of looking at facts. OHHH, wait a minute, thats been going on for decades and your just another blind follower.

Innocent until proven guilty guys, remember this is some story the police fed to the media. Im sure the media ate it up as well as all viewers/readers with no regard for proper procedure and the rights of all American citizens.

Its incredible easy to spout off "Oh that guy deserves life" or "Give him the chair" like some unintelligent hillbilly who cant think for themselves. However, if it were you or one of your close friends or family being wrongfully accused you would wonder why no one believes the truth. Its because of people like you blindly believing anything thats printed in a newspaper or on tv.

Its to bad that when individuals go on tv for an interview to defend themselves they make them wear there orange prison jump suit, making 3/4 of viewers predisposed to think he/she is guilty.

well I'm basing my judgment off of this report being true. If all said in this report is true than he should get the chair, there is a reason that there is a judicial process for people accused of crimes. So I am free to speculate as to what I think the punishment should be. If you were to read the story more carefully you would have realized that:

In June 2006, when drug proceeds and crack were lost, Hudson participated in a shooting into a Newport News apartment. Bullets from that shooting struck a pregnant woman, however, both she and the baby survived. Again, in July 2006, bullets were fired into an apartment in Hampton in retaliation for the nonpayment of a drug debt. One bullet struck a young woman in the back during that shooting.

Excuse me while I go take a dip a chew and go catch my cows in my chevy pickup
P.S. Whats with the cross avatar?

So you think that people involved in accidental shootings should be put to death? WTF?

Oh wait... That would mean that Cheney would be executed, maybe it's not so bad of an idea after all.

In my personal opinion that is a bad policy to have. Instead of basing your judgments with the assumption things are true you should always question the validity of what you hear, because its rarely the truth, whole story, or non-bias version. ESPECIAL WHEN YOUR RECEIVING THE INFO FROM POLICE OR MEDIA. Neither are in the business of finding the truth.

I'm religious. Why did you pick such a ruthless character for you name?

Just understand that its very possible that this man has little to no involvement with these accusations against him. Completely innocent people go to jail all the time, often because of a lack of funds to hire a decent lawyer. Keep in mind that even if this man pleaded guilty he could still be completely innocent. Often people take plea bargains for crimes they didn't commit simply because they are being pressured and threatened by police.

The way the police operate is more often than not much more underhanded and corrupt than the so called criminals they arrest.

You say I should question the media? I do, my opinion is that IF ALL THINGS SAID WERE TRUE, he got what he deserved, in my opinion less. And blind faith in a religion and you lecturing me on believing the media is hypocrisy at its finest.

Fair enough, you are entitled to your opinions.
