$12 Million In Drugs Seized From Manhattan Heroin Mill

NEW YORK -- Drug enforcement agents and New Jersey State Police raided a Washington Heights heroin mill Thursday evening.
They said they seized as much as $12 million in drugs inside the Cabrini Boulevard apartment.
Up to $100,000 in cash was hidden in a Captain Crunch cereal box, police said.
Investigators said the suspects were churning out thousands of dime bags of heroin each week, from the first-floor and sixth-floor apartments.
Police said the heroin was likely from Colombia.
Eight people were arrested. A ninth person broke his leg jumping out a window in an attempt to escape, police said.
Investigators said the men will face federal drug conspiracy charges. The suspects are considered low- and mid-level dealers.
The investigation originated in New Jersey, with state police tracking heroin sales there. Agents said they are working to track the drugs back to the organization's kingpin.

Washington Heights used to be *the* spot for drugs, but now every other dealer and buyer is an undercover Narc. You can still walk around the area and ask shady looking characters for (mainly) junk, coke and pot, but you're more likely to get something if you speak Spanish and come with a few guys the dealers are familiar with. At best, it's a last resort.
