Well, English is a Germanic language so take that into consideration.

But Spanish is probably much more useful if you live in the US.

Personally, I'm interested in learning the sacred languages of various religions. I'm seriously considering learning Hebrew, and eventually I'd like to study Sanskrit as well. Of course, these languages definitely do not fall under the "easy" category.

Not so, apparently.  My linguistics professor stated that hebrew is the easiest to learn.  She says she learned it in 5 days but she also speaks 6 languages, so it could be just her.

A kid in my linguistics class last semester knew Hebrew too and also concurred it was relatively easy to learn...

Hebrew is so ridiculous. I'll give you mad props for understanding that language. When I was barmitzvahed, I didn't know what anything meant except that it was out of genesis. Yeah, idk about that. If you're interested then go knock yourself out, but it's definately a hard language to actually "learn".

I was forced to go to this Bible/Church kiddie thing when I was younger and I learned how to say "Shalom".

What the fuck does it mean anyway?  Is it like "Hello" or something?  I'll bet the guy in your avatar would love it.  :smirk:

I'd say the easiest langauge to learn to speak may be Malaysian and or Japanese.

However no language is a cakewalk.

Shalom means peace, though it is used as a greeting.  It's like saying "peace be upon you."
