 Cordyceps sinensis

Hi, I am Leow from Malaysia.
I am interesting in culture mushroom. Before that I more concerned to culture the Pleurorus sp. only. But now I am trying to shift to ascomycetes, Cordyceps. Do any experts would share with me? By the way, is there someone can give me an ideal that where can I get the Cordyceps sinensis culture? Thanks!

I can't tell you anything about growing cordyceps ascocarps...the mycelia should not be as hard though.
However, I think Aloha Medicinals has a lot of different culture specimens/strains. I do not know if they sell them, but I think they do.

John won't sell his cordyceps strains. He risked his life to smuggle them out of China. He sells them in capsules, but he autoclaves them after drying to make sure nobody can culture them from the pills.
I'm convinced they grow in other regions as well, and have been climbing all the peaks in the Pacific Northwest USA, for a few years now, scouring the the ground above the treeline every time. If nothing else, I've lost my beer gut and gotten in much better shape from all the climbing.

This is the only Cordy culture I know of for sale off hand. Maybe take a look through Penn. States listing as well. I'll look in a little while to see if they have it. Even if they do, their cultures are rather expensive. Here's one from Mushroom People.

I found a cordyceps last year while i was looking for black trumpets. It was growing out from the side of a rock. Probably off a grub or something.
The one i found looked very much like the one in the middle.
