San Pedro from a Botanical Garden
    #7080702 - 06/22/07 05:43 PM (16 years, 9 months ago)

So I was in this unnamed Botanical Garden in the City of the Saint Louis, and I picked up this cactus that looked to me to be a nice fat little San Pedro for $9.

BUT.

If someone wouldn't mind, could you take a look at this and verify that it is what it is?

Picture quality isn't the best but I think its good enough...

Yeah, the MBGardens. Its in the gift shop, there was also a pot with 3 of them in it for sale: one a bit smaller, one about the same size, and one twice that size. I know for a fact that those were San Pedros, as they were labeled. I would have bought that pot but it was too big and woulda been a pain for me to carry back to memphis.

I would. If I lived near St. Louis I would have grabbed it no thought about it, but I had a bit of a distance to carry it so I decided to leave it. I'm not sure on how much it was, but this one I bought was only $9 so I'm sure its not that expensive. I would go snag it before someone else does though for sure if you're in the area.

yeah it's probably 15-20 minutes from where I'd be, but you never know, there's a lot of people (especially urban young type people) in the city that'd snag it up.  I'll go and check it out.

i decided on sunday im going to head up there for a photo session anyway, so ill get the cactus, some good pictures, and well...  I checked what was growing there right now, and i think i may have to wear my swimming suit because they have nelumbo nucifera's! :tongue2:

*they also have big Mimosa trees

They also saw some Iboga, Banisteriopsis caapi, Tree Datura, Betel, Kava, Psychotria, Wormwood, and Valerian while I was there. I'm sure they've got alot more that I probably over-looked though.

Edit:

Kava

Psychotria

Ayahuasca Vine

Iboga

Betel

Tree Datura

Sounds like the one I saw, I couldn't exactly remember if it was multiple stems or multiple cacti in the pot, but I knew there was more than one.  It also had the t. pachanoi tag in the pot.  Glad to know it ended up in the hands of someone who knows its capabilities

Lookin forward to your pics!

Yep, a fine looking specimen. Might want to get it into a bigger pot though, give it some more light than in that dungeon you took the photos in, too.

The folks at the store I bought it told me I didn't need to switch pots for another month but I'll take your advice, I was kinda planning on doing it soon anyways. And yeah, when I took the photo it was in the floor of my room, Its in on a table in a window with 2 lamps now though along with the rest of my plants

okay, here's a few pictures of it (forgot i was using my older mobo that has a faulty ehternet port so i put a card in)

it ended up being 50 bucks since they took 5 bucks off because of the semi-broken pot (on the rim)

picture with ruler to give a good idea of the size:

then the nicer shot of it:

and a dragonfly that was sitting on this crazy spiral water plant at the gardens:

*ill upload some more picture of the other stuff at the botanical gardens if you want. I got a decent picture of the pink brugmansia, but only one flower was on it.
