To polyfil or not to polyfil--that is the question

I've heard both ways about the polyfil-stuffed holes. If someone were growing in a terrarium that is in a not-so cleanable area, it seems the filtering benifits of polyfil would outweigh the detriments. What are some pro's and con's of this method? It seems like one basically has to weigh the importance of FAE and keeping contams out. Also, has anyone tried cotton balls, or does the substance need to be synthetic? Just a-wonderin'.

dont cover terrarium holes at all, since if you do cover em they will have stale air and be more open to contams.

Exactly. Terrariums are not sterile, so any attempt at 'filtering' only reduces FAE, which is the number 1 contaminant preventer. Contaminants grow in still, stale air and won't do well in a well ventilated terrarium with healthy mycelium already in control of the substrate. RR

You shouldn't fan at all until it's fully colonized. RR

Id do it a couple times a day [Edit] If ur fruiting a fully colonized cow turd =) [Second Edit] just read another post andu u just spawned it, Better incubate till fully colonized, still need to be really sterile.
Im just getting back into the game myself.
