JUN 14 -- (LOS ANGELES) – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced today the culmination of a multi-agency investigation that targeted the Rolling 20s violent street gang. The DEA, LBPD and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) joined forces to dismantle an organization which has been linked to many acts of violence in the City of Long Beach. The investigation revealed that the street gang financed their criminal activity through the sale of illegal narcotics in and around the Long Beach area. The investigation targeted the leaders of the gang and focused on their criminal drug dealing activities. On the morning of June 14, 2007, agents and officers searched nine locations in the cities of Long Beach, Vernon, Los Angeles and Paramount. As a result of the searches, six individuals were taken into custody.
This nine-month investigation resulted in Federal criminal indictments on drug trafficking charges for seven individuals. The defendants charged in the indictment are:
* Eddie Lee Smith, 29 years of age, Long Beach * Mark Tyrell Fowlkes, 36, Long Beach * Samuel Earl Sanders, 26, Long Beach * Patricia Ann Clay, 51, currently in state prison * Marvin Antoine Coleman, 25, Long Beach * Roderick Byrd Jr., 31, Long Beach * Luciana Denise Williams, 39, Long Beach
In addition to those indicted on Federal charges, state of California drug trafficking charges were filed on: Frederck Bernanrd Harden Sr., 35, Paramount; Anthony Louis Suggs, 41, Long Beach; Trent Lydell Hunter, 41, Long Beach.
The following individuals have not been arrested and are wanted in connection with this investigation: Eddie Lee Smith, Mark Tyrell Fowlkes, Luciana Denise Williams.
