Going Wine Tasting Tomarrow.
    #7027560 - 06/09/07 07:38 PM

So tomarrow me, laska, and my mother are going to Napa to some wineries to go wine tasting for my 21st birthday. My mom went all out and got a limo and we got a bottle of Dom for the ride there.

I plan on grabbing a couple really nice bottles for special occasions and such and we got a little bit of some really nice Romulan that is really alot better than the last eighth that i smoked.

ill post some pics from the winery well take a tour prolly. i wanna get some shots of the aging room if i can.

Some shots of the vinyard. Its 280 acres and has 4 distinct micro climates. She said that the wine made from the grapes on one part tasted different than the wine made from the same varietal on the other side of the lake.

This winery produces a top shelf table red. Its a blend of the best grapes of that year.

After picking the grapes are de stemmed and tossed in here.

The best are fermented in these oak casks and the rest in the stainless ones

Fermentation continues to a degree and aging. tis the wine caves. really cool down there.

This fountain acts as a humidifier keeping it constant so the barrels dont warp. Pretty cool huh?

A well-detailed report of your field trip! You mentioned going to Haight, is this the famed Haight-Ashbury?

Are there any remnants left from the Summer of Love (stores, sights, etc.?)

Im in pain. So we ended up just going to berkley. we went to Pyramid and to Blakes on Telegraph
http://www.pyramidbrew.com/alehouses/berkeley.php

http://www.blakesontelegraph.com/index.html

Blakes

I drank a pint of crystal hefe weizen, pint of hemp ale, pint of iron springs ale, 2 pints of racer 5 double IPA, and a couple glasses of wine. The wine is what pushed me over the edge. we went on a walk to the water and i dont really remember it. I do remember puking in the sand and it looked like blood cause of the wine. on the way back i fell crossing the train tracks and smashed my hip on a rail. it hurts SO bad. iT hurts to move, cough, and walk.

laskas dad gave me a bottle of this:

It looks really good i am relly looking forward to trying this.

Quote:

Trader Joe's Vintage Ale is a dark Belgian style beer of great distinction produced by traditional top fermentation methods resulting in a rich and full-bodied flavor. The Champagne-like effervescence and smooth mouth feel are the result of a natural secondary fermentation in the bottle obtained by the use of a carefully selected yeast culture. This vintage ale commences with a rich head of foam, followed by a smooth dark flavor with a hint of roasted malt delicately balanced by subtle notes of noble European hops. True to its Abbey style, this year's vintage closes with a long, complex and subtly spiced finish. Brewed once a year in limited quantity, please enjoy Trader Joe's 2006 Vintage Ale. This ale will age exceptionally well over time, developing more complex flavor as the years go by. Exclusively bottled for Trader Joe's. Best Before 08-28-2009.

All in all it was one of the best birthdays i have had. I will remember this
for a long time to come.
