It's his website.
If people can bring that point up when members are whining about bans, it might as well be brought up now.

I think I exercised remarkable restraint by not changing the site to a red, white and blue color scheme until the 2008 election.

i like it.
some people may or may not agree with the candidate, but there is a serious lack of interest in americans regarding voting...
i see nothing wrong in stimulating some interest...

I digg it, but maybe that's 'cause I dig the idea of Ron Paul as President!
Shoot, I'll even admit I had the passing thought of it as a full-time banner.. but soon decided that was pushing one given political ideology too far.
Hell, the site just went up - no harm in generating a little bit of interest.. just keep it in line!
On that note, the following quote has been cycling on your site over the past 20 minutes: "If you can read this, this mus be fixed quickly." -Testing if I can resubmit I.

It is my opinion that the Shroomery should encourage political participation, but I also don't think it's fair to play favorites. If this were just in the pub or off-topic, then it would be fine. However, this in my opinion is a gross abuse of what the Shroomery should be doing. Can anyone else pin a topic for another candidate to all the forums? No.
My question is why must you shove this guy down my throat, and for that matter every other user here? I don't care how great he is. The Shroomery can advocate whomever they want, but it is my opinion that we shouldn't play favorites. Instead, we should look at all the candidates and their benefits. My statement really is this, the Shroomery can advocate a candidate as an organization, but individuals should not be allowed to spout their websites etc.(Ythan), unless other users have the same privilege.
I refuse to Digg this. Thank you.

he is not shoving the guy down your throat. you choose to click the link by your own free will.
as to your concern about fairness, why don't you create a website promoting a candidate and then kindly PM Ythan to sticky it onto the boards. i'm sure it can be arranged.

The thread is on every page of every forum, thus it will be clicked by almost every user. It was my choice to click the thread, but why should I have to deal with this thread everywhere?
As for the second. Why don't we start websites for all the candidates with individual threads pinned to the top of every forum. Let's see if that would happen. The fact of the matter is that it won't happen, and you know very well it won't.
I'm fine if the Shroomery advocates a candidate, but not if a user is allowed to propagate their agenda without limit and fair consideration given to all candidates. I disagree with Ythan's ability to propagate HIS personal agenda, because other users cannot instantiate site-wide pinned threads. The fact is that if one user is given the ability to prevaricate with supreme power over other users, then it's nothing more than propaganda.
If the Shroomery as an organization were to support this, not Ythan as an individual, then I wouldn't disagree.

How is anybody shoving Ron Paul down your throat? I could see if a huge full page ad popped up as you signed onto the forums and made you view the page before viewing the forums. That may be considered "shoving down your throat" but thats not the case here. It's a fucking thread that you chose to view and respond to. Why are you still posting in here (in this thread) if you don't care for Ron Paul? Give it a break.

I really appreciate all the support! You guys are just awesome. For the few of you who see a problem with my one personal sticky, please keep your bitching out of my thread. I'm sorry you never started your own site where you have editorial control, but you can still get around to it before 2012! And don't worry, I plan to take this sticky down soon, I just wanted to spread the word to people who are interested.

"My children," said an old man to his boys scared by a figure in the dark entry, "my children, you will never see any thing worse than yourselves." As in dreams, so in the scarcely less fluid events of the world, every man sees himself as colossal, without knowing that it is himself.
