 Plug spawn to syringe?

Would there be any reason I couldn't do the following:
Put colonized shiitake plug spawn in some Karo-based LC. Let sit. Pull LC into syringe. inoculate rye.
Alernatively, I could scrape some of the myc off the plug instead of putting the whole plug in the LC, if that would help.

why not drop the plug into the grain.

Because I want to do PF-style w/ sawdust and BRF (sawdust instead of verm).
How about I pull the back out of the plunger on the syringe, scrape in some myc, draw in some sterile water, shake, and innoc?

Yes, it will work if the plug is free of contams. Bacteria (which I often had on the plugs I bought) are invisible to the naked eye and will ruin your LC.
The best way would be to grow out the plug on agar or test your LC (on agar or one pf-style jar) before you inoculate lots of jars.
