 Cambodian, Z Strain (coir,50/50) grow log (pics)

Started with (2) QT jars of WBS. One knocked up with Cambodian strain, the other with Z Strain. Spawned each of them to coir in a 6 QT Sterilite tray.
1. Cambodian, 2. Z Strain
 
They will then be cased with the 50/50 method (verm/peat moss).

Looks OK, very aggressive colonization,
Don't open the lids too often.
I hope you have something in mind to prevent side pins happening on that clear plastic tray, E.G. foil
My first strain was Zs
Good luck, Hope you get some nice flushes.
Why didn't you post this in the grow logs & pictures section.???

did you do a pure verm bottom, then the wbs, then the 50/50.
if so, how thick did you make each layer?

When you spawn to coir you just mix it in with the WBS. When you case it you just put a thin layer of the casing (50/50 verm/peat moss) or (50/50+) over the top.

how deep was your sub?
how many days is that top pic into colonization?
did u add anything to your sub? i.e. coffee grounds, gypsum, verm?
just wondering i jus did a spawn to coir and hoping i can get some growth like that!

Both of the substrates are 2-2.5" deep. I spawned the Cambodian (1st pic) on 4/30 and I spawned the Z Strain (2nd pic) on 5/7. I did not add anything to the coir. I will be adding gypsum and hydrated lime to my 50/50 mix.

Colonized WBS mixed with coir
Then after full colonization of mixture add casing layer
Is that right?

Yup, I just use the white lid that came with the tray and drill holes in it, then cover the holes with micropore tape.

Ratio of Coir:WBS? I don't know for sure, but 2:1 or 3:1 sounds about right.

Once your WBS is fully colonized bang it against a tire or something that will "give" a little. Empty the jar into a container or tray (I use the 12QT Sterilite containers) and mix with coir. Once the coir is fully colonized then you case (add a top layer) it with your preferred casing recipe (50/50, 50/50+).

The one on the left did not have any WBS on top, it was pretty much all covered by the coir. The pic on the right had some WBS on top and it seems to be colonizing faster.

Checked in on my 2 trays. The Cambodian has started to develop knots on the top and on the sides.
 
So I decided to case it with the 50/50+ mix to see what happens. Not sure why it would start pinning yet, It's kept in the closet at around 75-80.
Also decided it was time to case the Z Strain.

so you dont have to wait until the sub is 100% colonized before you case?
i saw your last post(the light thread) with those pics you posted. those looked damn good. was that also spawned to coir? if so did you case before it was 100% colonized?
