 Pharmaceutical companies and medical marijuana?

I'm just curious if there is any hard facts about pharmaceutical companies funding/aiding the war against medical marijuana. I was thinking about this last night, they have the most to lose by far. They make millions off of their patents for drugs, and there would be no way to profit off of medical marijuana, which would in all likelihood replace or at least hurt sales of some of their products. Just thinking about it pisses me off, they fucking spend millions advertising their products when that money could go towards researching new drugs or *gasp* making medicine available to those who can't afford it (Fuck that noise medicine is about profit not helping people)
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I'm just curious about other people's thoughts on this.
