Buried and forgotten bomb shelter

So I've been doing some work on a place the last couple weeks. It was originally a large piece of prime real estate in a very ritzy area of Anaheim Hills, California with a large but very old house on it. They sub-divided the land and built several multi-million dollar homes on the property. Now the only lot left is the site of the original home which was built in the 1930's. So they demolished the old home and are going to build a new one on the site. I was called in to dig some footings for a few retainer walls and do a little ground work before they start building the new house.
As we were excavating one corner of the lot we hit some buried concrete in the ground. At first we thought it was just some footing for an old planter wall. But as we looked closer we realized it was a set of stairs going down into the earth! As I continued to excavate the site it got more and more interesting. We had discovered an old bomb shelter which had been built on the property many decades ago. Somewhere along the way it had been abandoned, the concrete roof was demolished and allowed to collapse into the structure, and then it was buried and forgotten.
I completely excavated the site first, exposing the remains of a very small space which included all the things needed to survive for a short time. There was a cistern to provide water, a sink, a toilet, and a small septic system. It was fully self contained and pretty ingenious. It was very small though and would've only fit one person comfortably. It was not much more then a jail cell buried in the ground. But it was a completely self-contained unit separate from the original house.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun digging it up. I was hoping I'd find some buried treasure, or at least Jimmy Hoffa. But in the end it was just an abandoned concrete bunker. I still felt like an archaeologist for a couple days and that was kinda fun.
Heres a couple pics of it as I was working on the demolition...

I'd get myself in trouble so fast if I was allowed to play with that backhoe.
