Hello, I am intrested in setting up a UK based 'mushroom legalisation' pressure group. I'm a passionate beleiver in drug reform especially regarding mushrooms and would like to try and end these ridiculous laws. I am currently looking for like minded people who would be intrested in participating in this project (either in its running, as a member or financial supporter). If people are intrested in helping out please reply to this thread; I am also trying to 'recruit' people from other websites and locally with the aim of setting up an online meeting (in a chat room/IRC channel) to discuss the best route for the organisation to take. I would be especially intrested in hearing from any of the following:
- Anyone who has experience working with legalisation groups. - Anyone with web design skills. - Anyone with any legal knowledge of this area. - Anyone with a desire to right this wrong
Thankyou for your time!

So basically your'e asking who would like to quit their job and dedicate their lives to a political action group? Because that's what it's gonna take.

lots of people doing a small amount of work = a few people doing a lot of work.

Not from a ground-up perspective.
I dont mean to sound like a naysayer, because I agree with your intentions - it's just not as easy as you would like it to be.

I know its not an easy or simple task, but I'd rather try and fail than not try at all. I think the two primary aims would be lobbying MPs and educating the non drug using public.
A friend of a friend suggested the mailing out of a gram of dried mushrooms to random addresses in the phone book (as was done with joints in the 60s) with an accompanying letter saying 'here are some magic mushrooms if you don't want them throw them away, if you do want them heres what will happen....' and putting forward the arguments for legalisation. The main aim of this would be to attract press attention etc... obviousley I told the friend of a friend this was highly illegal and would not be pursued, but this is an example of a way to generate attention with minimal effort.
