Pot farm found in hidden underground chamber

DES MOINES, Wash. - A tip from Kitsap County led detectives to a substantial pot farm a hidden chamber underneath a Des Moines home.
Detectives found a tool box inside the garage of the house and when they opened it, they found an entrance into an underground chamber. They found 250 marijuana plants in that chamber and 25 more in a van outside. Then the home owner led them several miles away to another house in Burien, where they found 100 more.
"It's significant, especially for a residential area," said Kitsap County sheriff's spokesman Scott Wilson.
But despite the significant discovery of 375 marijuana plants, no one was arrested.
"That was a decision made in the field by those investigators," Wilson said.
Detectives said the case will be forwarded to the King County prosecutor, who will decide whether to press charges. Residents of the house were allowed to gather what they were allowed to take and leave.
Neighbors say the drug bust didn't come as a huge surprise. They said they've watched cars constantly coming and going to and from the house. They also said a white van seemed to make repeated deliveries in and out of the garage.
But not any more. The tangle of electrical wires inside the house to help grow those pot plants led cops to declare the house unsafe. They red-tagged it, severed the power lines and shut the pot corner down.

anybody watch the video? they show footage of the residents leaving - looks like they're getting ready to go on vacation. one resident looks into the camera & says "der.....uh.....hi". dumbass.

I think I my have figured out why so many people with underground grow grooms get arrested.
The theory is that it's so awesome they have to tell someone eventually.
Nothing else makes sense.

My guess is the cops told them "if you tell us where the rest of the plants are, we won't send you to jail right away." And of course they went for it.

the entrance to the grow chamber was inside a tool box? either that was one massive toolbox, or the people are really tiny. Something seems wrong with that statement.

who knows. my guess is that the entrance to the grow op was in the floor or in the wall and concealed by a large industrial toolbox/storage cabinet. and somehow, through dopey backwoods police work and dopey backwoods tv news reporting the story somehow turned into the entrance being in or through the toolbox.

Damn, that's one of the funniest arrests I've ever seen. The people walk out of their house and it looks like their goin on vacation, then, they don't even get arrested!? This is certainly good news in the marijuana push for legality in the United States. If someone can get arrested growing 375 plants, and not be arrested, how can anybody be arrested at all when it is regarding to marijuana?

This story is fishy as hell.
in any normal situation EVERYONE at the house/s would have been arrested IMMEDIATELY and the details like who is actually responsible and who is not would have been sorted out later after everyone had been in a jail for a bit.
There has to be a connection back to the police force or some other well connected person in the community / government... what else would explain the leniency on the part of the investigators?
If this is the case though, I'm surprised that this report even made it to the public.
the whole "tell us everything and you won't go to jail" scenerio is highly unlikely. You get caught with that much weed, you go to jail. That's how it works. Unless, of course, there is some police / government involvement with the whole op.

They still have a certain amount of time to press charges if the feds step in and tell them to.
However, that is usually a method told to shroom pickers to dump their bags and take a walk. However growing is different thing.
I suppose it was too much paper work on the weekend to hassle with.
