Autopsy: cocaine killed man in police custody, relatives blame Taser
MONTGOMERY, Ala. Montgomery police say an autopsy report concludes that a man in police custody died from actue cocaine intoxication. But the suspect's wife disputes that and blames the use of a Taser for killing 35-year-old Perry Simmons. Captain Huey Thornton, a police spokesman, said the report, released yesterday, revealed the use of a chemical spray and a Taser gun by officers did not contribute to Simmons' death.
The incident happened on September eighth when officers attempted to arrest Simmons for a violent rampage at his home.
Thornton said Simmons had trouble breathing while being transported to the city jail and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
In a newspaper interview today, Trina Simmons called the findings into her husband's death a coverup.

Trina is right, I would donate to her legal fund for wrongful death in a heartbeat.

I'd like to know what chemical they used and how much, and also how much voltage they pumped through that guy and how many times... but just cause I'm biased against most cops i'll say these 2 things probably did contribute to his death on top of the cocaine. I hope his wife can diligantly prove her case....

Another one killed by a taser. If police are so good at telling what type of drugs you are on, then why use a taser? Why not pepper spray?

There's probably more to this case than we know.
The cops show up to some guy's house and he's in a violent rampage. How were they supposed to know what he was on?
What did you expect the cops to do, talk to him nicely?

i'd imagine that if he wasn't all geeked up his body could have handled a taser a bit better.. even though, after witnessing a few police taser incidents, those things are brutal. temporary paralysis and all
