How to make the experience "easy" and avoid a bad trip.

This also applies to shrooms.
A lot of people are afraid of acid or shrooms. Not all, but a great many of these can be cured. The reason is that it is not the trip that is the source of their fear - it is the lack of control and the foreign environment.
Anytime humans are put through a QUICK change, they freak out. Say, for instance - if you were teleported into the deep ocean and now you breathe water and live in that world. HOLY SHIT! You'd trip out seriously, maybe even panic at first. But then, after a while - you'd get hip to it, and learn how to manuever and work the environment to your advantage. A former enemy is now a friend.
So where am I going with this? Time of onset of trip in most cases is the cause of a bad trip. The person feels like the carpet has been pulled out from under them and they don't know what's up. I can understand how that can be scary.
Here is what you do: Very small doses. At least to let yourself saturate in the level of a trip where you are still in control. Sortof like raising a dog from puppy - you know it and control it, rather than having a huge dog jump on your face and maul you.
The key here is to get comfortable with the trip, where you get used to the changes that take place. Then add more. Get comfortable again. Not too much in one day. But the next time you do it, go straight to the "second" level you handled, and work up from there.
It's a concept of saturation and sustainment. If you took 10 hits of acid, it would burn right through you. But after a while, hopefully you would get acclimated - just like getting used to the water in a cold pool.
A little at a time, within control - until you get the feeling of "FUCK IT, stick it to me baby - BURN BABY BURN!" <-then you know you're ready.

P.S.: All this advice assumes you already know most things(like the right environment, setting, etc)

I have yet to test my ideas on preventing a bad trip, but I came up with a few on a pilgrimage to Frisco, where two caps blew away all my notions of reality.
There was an instance of the trip where I had realized all of the negativity being manifested was related to my feelings of self-doubt and my tendency to focus on the negative when it comes to anything internal. By examining and realizing where my attention actually lies, meaning internal vs. external, I have managed to stop many of the negative thoughts processes of my brain. I equate this to "living in the moment," and have some confidence that it will lead into much more pleasant future trips.
In short, just avoid thinking about yourself.

True. Sometimes, thinking of oneself is the root of the bad trip.
Why is it a bad idea to look in the mirror? For that very reason. Excellent point.
Now maybe some people need to analyze themselves. Maybe they have a bad trip because they're afraid to face the demons within. To those I say - TAKE MORE, TAKE A LOT MORE. Bend over and take it, you lay down before it and beg the light to burn through you and cleanse the soul!

I avoid bad trips by not pegging the experience as either "good" or "bad."
It is what it is.

Bad idea to look in the mirror?
Ever time I trip I take full advantage of the mirror, staring at my huge and black pupils, vividly picturing my face deeper and deeper, layer by layer.
It's amazing.
