hello, just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has been replying to my messages, its a big help! Ok so after i have left the freshly cut mushroom head on the print paper, are the spores ok to use right then to make syringes or do they need to be dried out?

They're good straight off the mushroom to make syringes. You want to make sure you dry out any prints you store, though. When making a syringe from a dry print, its good to wait 24hrs for the spores to rehydrate.

i hate the ziplock bag thing, that fucking sucks to get sprints in trade, and they were in a ziplock, and all fucked up from being mailed.
I take the caps, and lay them on foil in a glove box (very sterile concious) for 12-24 hours, then carefully take the cap off by a corner-being careful not to smear. Then leave the print be for an hour (to dry) you can tell when it's dry by the nice uniform color w/ no dark spots. then fold the foil directly in half. Then fold a tiny bit of the edge over (about 1/8" or less) then fold that in half. Be sure to press very hard to seal the Fuck out of it, and double fold all of the open edges the same. then you wont have to worry about a ziplock. ...that only helps to make you FEEL more sterile. lololol

Basically, fold open ends, and fold again. Press, then store!

If you want to make syringes, just put the cap in a sterile petri dish (or similar dish) inside a glove box. I like to put the glass petri cap on top too. Then, after about 12 hours, remove the mushroom cap. Now you have a print on the glass of the dish. Pour some sterile distilled water over the print and stir it with the needle of a sterile empty syringe. When all the spores are floating in the water, aspirate with the syringe and you're done. One normal size print is good for at least a 50cc syringe, or even for two. This is a lot! In fact if you take the cap off after 12 hours you can transfer it to another dish for a second print.
I use the above method with great success without the glovebox (but I wouldn't recommend this - I live in a very clean house). I have always gotten clean syringes this way - I had no contamination in my jars so far.

i know sterility is the key issue in printing, but my friend said he does spore printing like this:
sprays some rubbing alcohol on his hands (washed first with antibacterial soap), also uses rubbing alcohol w/ scalpel. pre-folds foil and wipes that with alcohol & lets dry. cuts off cap close to the stem as possible, then lifts the cap with the scalpel to the foil & puts shot glass over it. uner the foil is a thin towel. this is so humidity can escape because shot glass is slightly over the foil, touching the towel. he has taken a dozen prints so far & all have appeared to be dry.
is this sterile? he hasn't used the prints yet so no one can say if he has succeeded though.

That's how I print except I use a glove box now and just stuff the hand holes full of polyfil when I'm done. I put a bit of damprid in a coffee filter in the glove box with the caps to help them dry and drop more spores, and to help get things dry after I pick up the caps.
I think it's probably a good idea to store prints in tyvek envelopes.

I made a print making drawer

Lined it with contact paper so it's easy to clean . I just set the caps on a wire screen over some foil , put some dissicant in there in a bowl , ready in 12 hours .
I have a friend with a sign business , so I'm going to be trying plexiglas in the future . It doesn't scrap off like I thought it would and I can get little squares cut to whatever size I want for free
