Hey all. Just a random question, preferably for those who have tried DMT.
Does the start of this song in any way stir memories of a DMT trip? By the sounds of it, posford has done his best to finely tune it to a dmt trip, like when he says "and there is a crrrrrrrrraa" (breaks into song) its like thats when you've entered the DMT realm. I have never done DMT but I am trying desperately to get my hands on some because I feel I'm ready to go to that next level of exploration. I'm not 'expecting' anything per se, but have any of you taken DMT to this song, if so, does it kind of 'guide' you in any way? I've read people saying "music is pretty much obsolete because it often fades away, as long as it's not too intense" or sometihng like that, but I mean, the end of the song with the river sounds and the indiginous people talking, sounds like I'm guesing the end of the trip, where you come out and are like "omg wtf where am I what just happened and what are these strange noises around me?" am I on a par?
I'm not trying to ask 'what is it like' so much as does this song correspond well with a dmt trip?
I am really eagre to experience this. My run with RC's has been a little harsh on me, but LSD and mushrooms have treated me kindly lately and I feel like I'm ready to get to that next level, because I kind of think a lot deeper through the layers of reality EVERY FUCKINDAY and i just want to try and break through to experience something a LOT deeper than just a lvl5 mushroom/acid trip.
any comments?

DMT is undescribable, nothing can convey it aptly in any way shape or form and you'll realise that when you finally get to try it. DMT is just, well.....OMFG to the power of WTF?
When it kicks in, nothing else matters because nothing else is, it's just you and the visions. No one can give you an idea of the experience that will come anywhere close.
Also I don't believe that to be posford, its Terrence McKenna.

NOthing you can experience in this reality can be compared to a DMT in any way, unless you do the experience a major injustice.

Oh i knew it wasn't posford in the voice, im just talking about the general way the song goes.
but yeah, I know what you mean. I know this is like comparing dog shit with god shit here, but on lvl 5 ego loss I guess I can kind of understand what you mean about nothing 'being'.
I just love it when all the people i talk to say: me: "what's it like?" other dude: "... uh... i dunno ask me a different question" me: "that much huh?" other dude: "i wont even try to explain, just get some and see... go there"
each time i hear that it gets me more and more amped to try it,its so hard to find in myend of the world I may just end up having to extract some myself, but materials are hard to come by down here, escpecialy with customs/quarantine

Extraction is the best way to get DMT. Even if I heard someone talking about selling it, I wouldnt buy it from them, and I wouldnt trust them that it was actually NNDMT. If you have a friend you trust, then I guess go for it, but its certainly not a drug to pick up on the streets.
That said, if you can get some MHRB (I can get it in the US, I cant imagine you being unable to get it where you live) the extraction is fairly simple...and it somewhat prepares you for the trip...in a strange way. When extracting the molecule, you get a certain closeness too it...once again, like a DMT trip, it is hard to explain. Maybe others experience this too during an extraction? It might have something to do with all the excitement that builds as you get closer and closer to a final product.
Nothing in the "level" system accounts for a DMT trip. If you are talking about level 5 shroom trips, then be prepared for a level 20. (God I hate the level system, but at the same time I understand its all we have for trip comparison)

I'm with gopenguins on the extraction thing, it lets you spend some quality time with it before you jump in head first, it'll also build up your apprehension. Ain't nothing better than knowing that you got the elf spice through your own means. The biggest worry with extracting DMT is that someone might mistake the chem's needed for those to make meth, just don't pay with cards or leave any paper trail and if you need glassware but can make a ghetto alternative then do it. The marsofold tek can be done with great results in a few days and is fairly innocuous as drugs go, it also appears to be the easiest for novice chemists like myself.
When people ask me what it's like I generally just wave my arms frantically and make Blarghwaagh! noises....The only thing I could say that would be any use to you, is before you actually smoke it, psyche yourself up the same way you would if you were about to jump off a very high cliff into a bottomless pit. Hopefully then you won't be so shell shocked when it finishes.

That was a good statment In a simple way it somewhat describes from when you go from completely sober to, blasting through a bunch of geometric heads at 900,000 miles per hour.

it does infact remind me of dmt. the noices in that tune espesialy like right in the begeining bfore the song has started. i dunno shpongle was obviously trying to bring back what they coul from the dmt experience and wrap it up into a catchy tripped out tune. alot of the hissing and buzzing and crumpeling is very reminisent of dmt space tho.
i find the song captin shiner by primus to be a bette dmt song i think it just captures the entire experience [erfectly....drifting away

I wouldnt say it really resembles a dmt trip lyrically. As others have said, it would be hard to find music or lyrics that come even close.
It is however one of the most psychedelic songs out there, thanks to syd barret.
"look at the sky, look at the river, isnt it good"
............Definately inspired by lsd. I mean, his whole writing style is inspired by lsd to some degree.
Some of my favs off that album are "bike", "Flaming", and "interstellar overdrive".
Of all the songs by pink floyd I would say the ones that best describe a dmt trip musically are the songs "Interstellar overdrive", "Any color you like"(one of my favorite songs ever), and "On The Run". Lyrically, the song that most reminds me of smoked dmt, or atleast its after effects is the song "Eclipse"......One of the greatest songs ever written.
I think they sold their souls to the devil in order to write darkside.
......or maybe they sold syd to the devil. Im not sure.

If this old stuff is new to anyone Id highly recommend these videos.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2iA7wdO00VI
And most of all--> http://youtube.com/watch?v=f5IUrExZKKU The first jam band ever. Or atleast on par with sun ra and phish. Its the most chaotic shit ever. No one has been as ballsy ever since.
There are many live versions of this song available. Most of which are better than the studio version in certain ways.
If you can find this song live, its good quality, and if you are a musician, it will blow your mind for sure. They broke every rule.
I know these videos have bad sound, but they give the right idea.

"did you guys intantly love syd's stuff"?
Hell no I didnt like it at first. I thought all that old floyd was almost a joke compared to darkside, all the way into the late 80's.
I then got into jazz for a number of years and realized that syd was a total acid head, and he might have something to offer me.
Those early albums may not be your style, and they *are very strange. I listen to them on a blue moon. I realized how serious those lyrics were, that music was, once I stepped into that strange place where I didnt compare them to anything else I had ever heard. I cant "get into it" either. I think its some of the best stuff out there though. Kinda weird, but its true, that I like it that much that is.
They were a TOTALLY different band when syd was involved. A double meaning? .......maybe. A funny synchronicity......maybe. Metaphorical.....for sure.

I saw the video you posted Yageman on my Pink Floyd London 1966-67 dvd. Very interesting and psychedelic. I didn't get into Syd right away but it didn't take long and since then I really enjoyed it. Did you saw the video of Jugband Blues Yageman ? Syd look in another world... '' It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here. And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear That I'm not here ''
It's cool to know at least that some people dig early pink floyd cause most of the people I know that call them self big pink floyd fan don't even know what it is when I put syd era pink floyd haha
