Crushed oyster shells
    #6612604 - 02/26/07 01:40 PM (17 years, 1 month ago)

A friend of mine had very little pure calcium carbonate left so the pH of his casing mix pre-sterilization is ~6. He just purchased some crushed oyster shells and was aware that it is a buffer and doesn't act immediately...but what if he was to coffee grind some of those shells to a powder? So about 50/50 crushed/powdered. Would the powdered shells raise the pH of the casing mix immediately? I am going to try and get some calcium carbonate but would I be able to just go with what I currently have??

I've done it that way...hard on the grinder tho.
I've also removed the paper from drywall board and ground for the gypsum.

I to have ground drywall in my coffee grinder,I wish I never did though because now I'm scared to use it to grind mushrooms because I don't want to eat drywall because I'm pretty sure it have fiberglass in it,Ive cut myself on fiberglass before and I cant imagine eating it would be good for you.My luck I will get a stomach cramp or something while I'm tripping and think I'm bleeding internally :dielaughing:
