 Is this discoloration contam?

So i had been looking forward to birthing 10 uncontaminated cakes in the next few days until I noticed 2 or 3 of my jars have this same discoloration on the bottom of the jar, any idea what it is?

It looks okay to me. Some discolouration is normal.

I hate to disagree, but that doesn't look good to me at all. There's two different zones of growth, indicating that one of them at least is the wrong stuff. In addition, the solid line around the uncolonized portions tells me they're contaminated. If the mycelium was trying to colonize those sections, it wouldn't have a distinct edge like that. The mycelium would 'fade' into the uncolonized areas. Keep any jars like that away from the others or toss them.

Hrm.. yes on a 3rd pass I can see what you mean- sometimes I have noticed cakes just before they are finished colonizing start to harden up against the jar looking like that- but I think RR is right, those really look like two seperate grow paterns.
