Pictures of some of this season's first poppies. (update in last post)

These are the poppies from my first sowing this season. I've got some others which should be sprouting any day now which constitute my second sowing.
Not much opium likely to result from this group of poppies, but it'll be enough and I'll enjoy seeing the flowers once more.
Giganthemums:

And here's a tasmanian which surprised me by sprouting in an empty pot that used to have a tazzie growing in it.

I look forward to their adulthood!:D

more light!! and less in the pot! it wont matter that they are "giganthemums" if they only grow as big as your thumbnail

it's hard to space them properly in that pot, and it's so shallow that even with more horizontal room they wouldn't get much bigger.
I figure it's better to crowd them a bit to have more plants than it is to thin them thoroughly and have moderately bigger pods.
Plus, now that I think of it... those might be persian blue and not giganthemums... I've forgotten what I sowed

how many light hours are you giving them??? I have a thread with micro pods in here somewhere. It was done by giving them no rootspace and 24 hour lighting so they went right into flower. now give them 12/12 from the start "2 months" and rootspace and they will vegg properly and get huge. I have done them properly as well and they look like a head of lettuce without a stem coming up untill they flower. here is a pic after they started to flower and grew out stems...

oh and the reply was for konnrade

I thinned down the poppies in the clay pot to number only 3 as opposed to 5.
Unfortunately 2 of them have chosen to bud prematurely and will be tiny little bastards, and the one in the ceramic pot looks a mite sickly (possibly because the pot has pretty poor drainage).

They aren't doing terrific, but they don't get much sunlight in the short winter days, especially due to their location. I'll be sowing some outdoor ones (hopefully) once I dig up the crap soil from an east-west stretch of land and replace it with storebought topsoil.
