Police Seize $22 Million In Drugs From South Side Van

A 56-year-old man was arrested early Thursday after police found $22 million of drugs in the vehicle he was driving.
Chicago Lawn District police tactical officers saw a U-Haul truck parked in a lot at 4010 S. Pulaski Ave. about 12:05 a.m., according to a police News Affairs release. The officers noticed an “open brick of cannabis” on the truck’s floor and immediately arrested the 57-year-old driver, the release stated.
After further investigation, the officers discovered two large duffle bags of cash containing a total of about $100,000, 113 kilos of cocaine stored in Tupperware and hidden in two heaters and 3,000 pounds cannabis, the release stated.
The cocaine has an estimated street value of $14 million, while the cannabis has an estimated street value of $8 million, the release stated.
No charges have been filed as 5 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks.

The true moral is IF and WHEN you have $22M worth of drugs in your UHaul, try not to open a fucking brick of weed in the cab and leave it on the floor.

I would wager my right hand that the "opened brick of marijuana" was actually sealed up and stored inside the u-haul along with everything else. But they had to have some thing to justify searching the u-haul without a warrant as word from an informant may have not been enough.
I don't know, thats just my opinion.

Most likely. However, they use the excuse to protect the identity of the informant rather than to obtain a warrant.
