I bought a set of DR's, but haven't changed my strings since I got the guitar, which is when I bought the strings. I should probably change them soon, just to see what all the fuss is about with DR, but I guess I never feel the need to take the time to change them.

they say that elixers last so long that it's worth it...

no.

i say get cheap strings, but get a lot of em, and change em frequently.

although, there is a certain 'feel' to coated strings...and you can get em colored, which is SWEET. I once had elixers that were black and felt like liquid.
just aint worth it imo.

I've only bought Elixirs once and I switched them back to slinkys the next week.  I don't see how anyone can play on these things!  My fingers were slipping and sliding all over the place.  It feels like theres oil or something on them so you have nothing to grip...but that's just my experience

Are you talking about Elixer acoustic or Electric? I havent put my electric elixer strings on my guitar yet, but the acoustic strings are unbeatable. The sound, the feel, the love, you can beat it.

Keller Williams only plays with elixir strings...so I have read.

I have tried practically every brand at the store and all strings corrode and sound like shit after 4 weeks with me playing lightly on all my guitars. But when I play with elixirs the sound only gets better. Since they have that coating they don't rust or corrode.

A set of elixir will last easily three times as long as any other brand. I have even tried the GHS coated strings and still didn't compare. My first coupld of years playing I wouldn't think twice about using elixir because of the price. But since I have learned that in this case the price means quality and duration. I spend less on guitar strings when I fork out $20 bucks for elixirs. They honestly are the best strings I have used, IMHO, and I have used A LOT.

Electric elixir strings hold a quality tone even longer than acoustics. seriously....

if you play guitar and want more life and a better tone out of your strings then buy the elixir.

I have used boomers and didn't work as well for me.

it must be our playing styles.

i have a really sharp pick attack.  hitting them with vigor .. really aggressive and tough.  i find that the higher gauge boomers hold up really nicely for my style(12s are what i play, dropped a step or so).  idk, i started on d'addario in the beginning because the music store gave me some of them free.  other strings just feel awkward now

Elixir's are the only strings I use on my custom Strat.

I like them on acoustic too but they break too easily, maybe I need some thicker ones next time. The 4th "G" string always breaks on me, so I've taken to using a non-wound Phospher Bronze for that string.
