you don't get punched in the face actually it sounds the same as how you describe Akido, you take the energy somewhere. it is just that you don't "resist" whatsoever you just change the flow. for instance a punch leads to being thrown to the ground by your punch, or having your back broken by your punch (but he does not teach us that)

although he will sometimes have people punch him full force in the stomach and send all the energy into the ground. but i don't think you can do that with the face.

The only difference with Akido is that instead of not putting up resistance and getting your face punched in, you redirect that energy into the ground or thin air so no one gets hurt, while bringing the attacking force into resonant submission with harmony again, with the power of your own energy. The last part takes a lot of energy. It is said that to be brought into submission by an Akido master is actually a very pleasant experience.

No harm to anyone and a return to harmony for all is the goal of Akido.

:peace:

I was in Akido for seven years so I was often used in demonstrations where the sensai asked me to attack with full force. It was a very pleasant experience because I knew how to fall and when thrown surrendered my body to the will of the direction thrown, rolleing or sliding to a stop. It feels exhilarating when following the energetic path of least resistance and peaceful when flowing to a stop in a roll or skid. Attacking with full force makes it more enjoyable because all of your energy is present so you can feel it all flow from an full-on rampage to a peaceful stop.

however, I didn't find Akido (or maybe just the akido I studied) practical in the real world of fighting because you make your opponent feel wonderful if they know how to recover from your throws, encouraging them to further attack. (but if they don't flow with the throw they're mashed against the ground)

When i studied Akido, my classmates and I learned it intellectualy, when for a sensai there is no thought, only feel.
I prefer the energetic feelings of dancing in crowds, and in the near future will study martial arts like bagua and taichi, where the theory isnt as important as the ability to feel and improvise

No, no, this wasn't luck. This was divine intervention. You know what divine intervention is Stein?

That's right! That's exactly what it means. God came down from heaven and stopped your motherfuckin' car.
