Do you honestly think another psychedelic revolution is a) necessary or b) going to change anything? The first one was an arguably huge failure.

People don't want a consciousness revolution these days. Too much good shit on TV for that.

That, and they realize that hippies eating large amounts of psychedelics aren't going to change the world.

Mine either.
I say we just start acting responsibly and helping each other out. After this bong / nap session.

I may need to stare at my wall and think on that for a few years of my life... It sounds possible... I just need to do more drugs to be sure...

History has a way of unfolding as one extreme, then the other, followed by a synthesis of the two. I feel like we're we're heading towards that synthesis now. Hopefully, we'll find the proper balance between the idealism of the 60's and the cynicism of the 80's. I have noticed that acid has made a comeback in recent years, so that's a good sign.

Yes, I think it is possible, even likely, to have a mass revolution of thought.
This isn't the first time I've heard of this topic, I've said it before, I'll say it again: The time for a 'psychedelic revolution' is soon, but not yet. Hang in there.
Idealism may not solve problems, but without idealism in general, there's no will for action, no vision for a plan. I maintain that individuals are affecting change and taking action whether they mean to or are aware of it or not. The way you treat those around you, strangers and friends alike, the words you choose, the attitudes you relay in any given situation will impact those around you. Their actions, impacted in turn, impact those around them. This is how true revolutions in thought are born, grow, and eventually end up affecting real change.
So start broadcasting. Not preaching, not speachmaking, but broadcasting, realizing that you are sending out ripples that could really make waves.

Q: Exactly. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you'd never considered. That's the exploration that awaits you...not mapping stars and studying nebulae... but charting the unknowable possibilities of existence.

I 100% believe it's necessary. I follow the Alan Watts belief in that if more people ate this shit, more people would realize they don't need "religion." That in itself could be enough of a cultural revolution to spark change. And one reason that I believe the first one was such a failure is it was done for the wrong reasons. What happened to that generation? Did they only care because a draft was forcing them into a war/death? Why did so many of them just drop what they were fighting for and jump right into the media's projected lifestyle of materialism? Isn't that so much of what they were trying to shun not more than 30 years ago?

Well said.
I suspect an underground networking of minds which is active below the surface of cultural reality. Developments of this sort do tend to spring out into history in the form of large social movements.
The rise of Hitler, the rise of the psychedelic revolution in the 1960s, The rise of George Bush. Historical events of this sort don't just fruit out of no where. They gradually build up, in the collective unconscious, until they are powerful enough to overthrow a dominant consensual reality.
This makes a new psychedelic revolutions very plausible IMO.
Yes just hang in, the music is on the horizon.

There's always something. I wouldn't be surprised, history does tend to repeat itself. And everyone I know does psychodelics.

Baby steps. Has nothing been learned, or understood? The cultural effects of that time are plainly visible, whether or not they reached their idealistic heights. Further still, the number of people who have not experienced the first one, even two generations out, is increasing. Why do those things need to be a 'huge failure' in their lives, in their world? Especially in terms of psychedelics --we're here, discussing things. Information and communication are powerful tools and the 60s were a giant free for all in terms of info.
Is it going to change anything? What might not bothering to try yield?
