experience with sporeworks

Ok guys I'm not in full-fledged angry mode or anything like that but I am a little concerned. I bought two of the holiday grab bags and sent out payment on the 21st of December (money order) I called them up on the 27th just because the website still classified my order as "payment pending" and I wanted to see if my payment had arrived. The man I spoke with was very nice and told me he had just seen my letter in the incoming mail pile, he double checked and said "yes here it is, your package should be shipped out either today or tomarrow." Awesome right? So I've been waiting patiently... it took 2 more days for the status of my payment to be updated to "payment accepted"... hmmm that's a little weird I thought... even with the holiday rush considered. Well here it is the 4th and I figured they would HAVE to be here by today even with all those national holidays and President Fords death. No package. Hmm... ok so I called them again just a minute ago. I asked if they provided a tracking number so I could see where my package was and he told me he'd look it up but they usually are sent in the automated e-mails. Do you know what he told me? Almost word for word what he told me on the 28th, "oh yeah it looks like we received payment but your package still hasn't been shipped, it will be sent out later today or tomarrow".
I'm not ready to call it quits with these guys yet. I don't think I've been ripped off or anything like that, sporeworks seems to have a good reputation around this board and others. The only point I guess is don't tell me you're going to send it out tomarrow if you're going to send it out next week. It would have been perfectly understandable to tell me that you're backed up and it may take an extra week to ship. I'm just hoping for the love of Psilofyr that I get an e-mail with a tracking number tomarrow.

The holiday season is hard for all vendors. Most have families and functions that take time away from work.
I know we (Myco Supply) were closed on the Friday before Christmas, New Years Eve and New Years Day.
It may not sound like many days, but orders often pile up quick, and backorders/delays sometimes occur during this time of year.
The Sporeworks are one of the most respected and longest lasting spore vendors around, so I wouldn't have a single worry in regards to any order.
I would suggest dropping psilocyber a PM. I'm sure they'll come through for you.

yeah i was just about to send a pm myself askin for an update and I thought wait let me check my email one last time, low and behold there was my completed order email waiting for me.
I figuered it would take a little longer to ship due to holidays and lots of orders.
Sporeworks is a great vender and you have nothing to worry about.

thanks for the response guys. I know I probably shouldn't worry but it's in my nature I guess :-( I'm sure everything will come through just fine and I guess I can't realistically think my order should be shipped so promptly during this time of year. I'll post when I get a tracking # and my shipment gets here.

Let me just say that I originally started this thread before I went to work today and I was only there for 4 hours. By the time I came home (a minute ago) I found that I had a PM from Sporeworks (sorry forgot the handle) saying he was sorry for processing delays and that he's hooking me up for any inconvenience. Problem solved.... and THAT my friends is how you do good buisness!

Order processing did get a bit backed up over the holidays. You figure, as Lana posted above, that most small business will have some closures during this time of year. Officially we were closed on Christmas, the day after Christmas, as well as New Years day. Unofficially we were also closed on 01.02 due to the Ford funeral (the post office was closed). Orders quickly get backed up anytime there is a closure during normal business shipping times.
The best way to ensure a quick or express delivery during any time of the year is to select some sort of express or Air shipping option. Like most shipping companies, we do everything within our power to process and ship express and Air orders as quickly as possible. SO, in other words, these orders tend to take precedence during peak volume times, and ground packages may be postponed a few days if we are especially busy.
As for mail ordering taking a whole week... it typically taks 2-3 business days for a letter to reach us (even from 6 hours away), and you must consider that even if we are able to process and ship that order out the same day it is received, that it will take another 2-3 days back in delivery, again depending on distance. So a whole week to get your goodies by mail doesn't seem unreasonable, or am I missing something?
We VERY VERY much appreciate everyone being patient, especially those who have had orders delayed for a week or so before shipping. Our employees enjoy their holiday time as well, and they have been working extra hard to ensure the orders are caught up as quickly as possible. We really appreciate your patience and understanding during this non-typical shipping time situtation.

No worries, sporeworks will be hooking you up. I got 1 of the trick or treat bags, and ended up getting 3 of the x-mas ones.
Was VERY pleased with all 4. Just gotta have some patience during the holiday season.
Their spore vendors, with families, not crack dealers in the ghetto they can't work 24/7 even if we want them to

I have placed several orders with SporeWorks (for gourmet mushroom supplies) and always gotten them in under a week. I have them shipped by Priority Mail.

*sigh*
Tracking number hasn't moved since it was first entered. Stupid USPS website says they update it every night. Mail must be backed up or some post master doesn't like my package.

It's odd that usps says that, since I've only ever seen it updated in the early afternoon or morning.

USPS tracking on "Delivery Confirmation" packages essentially updates twice, once when the label is generated, and then again when the delivery takes place. It may also update with info in case of delivery failures or unsuccesful delivery attempts. It's not really a "true tracking" number, but it helps in case of package loss, ect.
I'm sure your package should be there any day now!
