Peruvian Torch(50g): an Introductory Experience

Ok well it all started when a FOAF's cat took 50 grams of the peruvian torch cactus incense he ordered and dumped it in a jar full of everclear then spilled the alcohol onto a glass plate. after about a week of sitting the alcohol had dried up, and a FOAF's cat took the liberty to rudely shove the remaining black-green goo in aFOAF's mouth against his will. What ensued as a result of this accident was described by aFOAF as not excrutiating but pleasant.
aFOAF had never done any cacti or mescaline before so he had no idea what to expect from this strange feline force-fed cactus concotion. After accidental ingestion no immediate effects were felt for 30 minutes but then there was a slight relaxing sensation, a feeling of heaviness or lethargy, like after a long day of working but no other effects were present. aFOAF told me that Hunter S Thompson described the first part of the trip perfectly : " Good mescaline comes on slow. The first hour's all waiting, and then about halfway through its second hour, you start cursing the creep who burned you, because nothing's happening. And then... zang!"
The "zang" part came about around 2 hours after ingestion. Rushes of energy and stimulation not unlike MDMA began to course through aFOAF's body. strangely he still felt relaxed and heavy but at the same time was stimulated. feelings of warmth and comfort abounded a long with the sensation that everything was just right, perfect, beautiful even. Empathy, Compassion, and Connectedness along with other indescribable emotions mixed together like a hippy coctail garnished with love. aFOAF could not help but look at every single person and object and feel an extreme sense of connection and One-ness. every ordinary object took on an extreme importance in its simple existence, each a vital part of the collective whole. despite these oceans of emotion, aFOAF was markedly silent and felt no need to express what he felt to others present.he didn't need to tell them, anyone could look at the huge smile plastered to his face and tell he was in good spirits. Each thought became clear and isolated, it was like the constant internal chatter in aFOAF's head had been turned off, and his mind was in an almost naturally meditative state; clear and lucid. aFOAF watched as the christmas lights decorating the upstairs balcony of his house brightened considerably shooting off tiny shards of multi-colored strands. Colors were the most interesting part of this experience. every single wash of color on walls and other objects was brilliant and glowing and the hues created by places where colors blend into eachother glowed with an almost neon iridescence. The visuals were described by aFOAF as not unlike a light dose of LSD; they never reached an uncomfortable intensity. the most interesting visual was quite humorous and occured 4 hours into the trip. While listening to the Chillout radio station at DI.fm (free internet radio) and looking at a portrait of aFOAF's great aunt and uncle, 2 elderly white people, they began to bob their heads and throw up their hands in a gangster like manner as they began to freestlye rap to the beat that was playing, even taking turns with their verses. their lips were moving and everything and this sent aFOAF into an uproarious laughter! the most intense part of the experience visually, occured when holding a piece of quartz that aFOAF found in a national park. this portion of the trip however is beyond words. The auditory hallucinations were the most intense aFOAF had experienced on any substance. sometimes he could hear voices of indigenous people in some strange language singing and melodiously chanting and he knew these to be Icaros, or the cactus songs that shamans hear while in an altered state.unfortunately aFOAF could not remember any of these songs. at other times aFOAF could hear music of the strangest sort and natural sounds like wind or oceans washing up on beaches. Overall the experience lasted for 16 hours, 2 hours to come up, 8 or more hours of peak experience, and 6 hours of an "afterglow" type feeling that lasted well into the day.the experience gently peaked and gently subsided, unlike acid which rips you away, and then drags on almost excrutiatingly long. even though aFOAF had not slept in 24 hours he still felt relaxed, and refreshed and very very calm, whereas after MDMA aFOAF usualy feels exhausted and burnt out. overall his introduction to the Peruvian Torch was pleasant and he compared it to something like a light dose of LSD, combined with a moderate dose of MDMA. aFOAF's cat was not reprimanded for its recklessness but rather rewarded with a pat on the head.
